The FUTURE is now!!! Focus on him!!! and Focus on the FUTURE and forget about the past!!! These are just a couple of mantras you should get used to hearing and shouting. 19 year old FUTURE a natural hot 16 spitting/writer, born Dermot R. S. Sutherland indigenous to West Palm Beach Florida; migrated to NYC in 2003 at the age of 13 to live with his father and “become a man”, after experiencing some serious conflicts with his mother.

FUTURE has always shown both of his parents an affinity for music at a very young age and ironically was not very interested in hip hop at all. Always having an eclectic energy and ear FUTURE was exposed to many different genre’s of music growing up with his mother in Florida. So it came as a total surprise when he arrived in NYC and heard 50 cent and saw his intense drive and business savvy. FUTURE was immediately captivated and decided that he wanted to try his hand in this music game however; he originally wanted to be a producer. His father being supportive of his son’s dreams and ambitions invested in his son and purchased a Protools M-Box for him. As FUTURE became more enthralled in creating his own music he realized that producing was not his forte and decided to try his hand at writing,

and the FUTURE was born…

With such prevalent talent being displayed in his community it wasn’t long before FUTURES peers took notice. In 2005 FUTURES mentor Marlon from his church in Brooklyn; God’s Battalion of Prayer asked that FUTURE perform in its upcoming Fine Arts Festival. FUTURE accepted the offer and decided to perform a spiritual rap song. Initially he received a great deal of flack for his choice but in the end he did a phenomenal show and FUTURES first fans came alive on that day.

FUTURE maintains that original performance ignited something “indescribable” in him. His natural ability to write very precise, lyrical, heartfelt songs and deliver with such a finite thought process allows the listener to literally see the songs as he describes his story. In song’s like his current single “City Boy” he takes you through his life in “the hood” and mixes “the bad” with “the good” to horns and percussions that have your head nodding crazy. On the swag heavy, bass heavy, string underlying “Live It Up Big” he invites his audience to know that even with his humble new beginning into this game he has a cocky side as well that will most definitely entertain and provoke challengers to his swag. Collaborations like “Rolling Stone” ft. Mickey Factz explore and display his maneuverability inside a track; his creativity is paramount and reveals itself on every level on this track.

FUTURE has begun his road to being an icon in this game doing performances at the Rock Star Arena Showcase at the Bowery, NYC Nov. 2007 and becoming Winner of Hot 97’s “Who’s Next” Competition in April 2008. He ripped the stage at the “Get Ya Buzz Up” Conference at Don Hills in June 2008 and you will only continue to see amazing things from this hot new talent about to take over the world of hip hop.
