    Listen to 12 year old Young Marqus, aka "YM", and you will agree that he is poised to be the next mega hit-maker of the hip-hop/rap music industry. The phenom recently closed out a stint with Lupe Fiasco and B.O.B as the opening act during their recent 30-city GENERATIONS LASER Tour. The media has rightfully dubbed him as "The Future of Hip-Hop" and he is already making his presence known around the world! Young Marqus has spent the past two years putting his talent and magic to pen and paper. With the release of his first mix tape, Respect Me, in August 2011, Marqus gained attention and interest from record labels and thousands of fans. Spending over 18 weeks performing for huge crowds almost every night while on tour with Lupe, Marqus impressed fans with a confidence on stage typical of an artist twice his age. The Real Deal People often wonder how can such a young artist write and perform with so much passion and maturity? "What's the real deal?" they ask, "Who writes for this kid? " Marqus is the Real Deal. Born in Houston, Texas to a teenage single mother, who is also a very talented singer/rapper in her own right, you could say that Marqus was raised by hip-hop. As a baby, Marqus spent many hours with his Mom in the recording studio, so it was no surprise when Marqus learned to rap before he could talk. Music became his primary form of expression. Marqus endured many hardships in his young life. Where most might have lost hope and succumbed to the pressure, Marqus became inspired and encouraged by his mother's example of strength and perseverance. During an especially tough period, Marqus and his mom drove around in their car with nothing but a garbage bag to shield them from the rain coming through a broken rear windshield. But rather than be crushed by their struggle, Marqus and his mom mentally escaped their dismal reality by playing instrumental tracks on the car stereo and free styling, back and forth, with each other. At school, no one knew what he was going through. Born with a winning spirit, Marqus maintained his status as an Honor Student through it all. Yes, this kid is the Real Deal. See for yourself.
