YoungMi Choi was born in South Korea
She started playing piano at the age of seven.
In 2002, she came to Nederland to study jazz piano at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag . During the summer of the same year , she took part in summer course in Sienna(Italy)
Where she studied with Paolo Fresau and Enrico Rava.
During her studies in the Netherlands she has been studying with Jurai Stanik and Marc van Roon . She finished her bachelor studies in 2005.
She continued studying jazz-piano and jazz-composition with Geijn van de Heijn and Roderik de Man.
She participated in many workshops with great Musicians (Micheal Breaker, David Liebman, John Taylor, Kenny Wanner, Barry Harris, Chris Cheek, etc…….)
Over the years she perfomed with many musicians from different musical backgrounds, in as well as outside of Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Italy.
In October of 2007 her first Jazz Opera was performed in the Kees van Barenzaal ( The Hague) by the KC orchestra and six soloists, conducted by Christian Karlsen .
The Opera was written entirely by Young mi Choi ( music , story, libretto ) and performance was produced by her .
Currently she is studying contemporary (classical ) composition at the Royal Conservatory with Guus Jansen and Diderik Wagenaar.
In her music she uses jazz tradition as a base for creative and highly spontaneous musical explorations .

I like to drink.I like whisky especially Jameson...
I was really drunk last night but I felt cool.Next day I felt terrible.I decided that I'll never gonna drink again. but I forgot the decision.again and again...because I like to drink .
I'm doing the same thing in music.....
