Young Readers Birmingham is a two week annual book festival featuring the best children’s authors, illustrators, storytellers, performers and poets at libraries and other venues around the city. There are over 100 events every year and most events are free.
This year Young Readers was very proud to welcome two of the best-loved writers in Britain! Children's Laureate Michael Rosen performed his own special brand of funny, irreverent poetry as part of our festival launch on Saturday 16 May. Best-selling author Malorie Blackman closed the festival on Saturday 30 May and introduced the latest book in her gripping Noughts and Crosses sequence.
What will happen in 2010?
Who I'd like to meet:
People who like reading, writing, drawing, new ideas, being creative and having fun! All are welcome - events are aimed at children, young people and families.
We're looking for budding poets aged between 11 and 17 to become Birmingham's 5th Young Poet Laureate.
Children with learning difficulties or disabilities are always welcome at all library events.
