My own style...People say I have a unique delivery or it sounds like a new genre of hip hop and that's what I'm really looking to bring to the game...Imma have people eventually saying "Man, you sound like Young Rhyme" lol..That's what's up!
"Been doing this for a minute and I finally reached YOU"! Born Terrence Raynard Dixon, the youngest of three, to two hard working parents on the Southside of Chicago, Young Rhyme started his career in music over a decade ago. He's been able to remain in the game with longevity because of his love and passion for his craft. A wise man was once quoted as saying "It can take twenty years to become an overnight success".
He began his journey in the 90's with a rap group called Crowns inc. which was a part of a bigger movement known as The Skunk Crew. After some modest success and frustration over the years, the group brokeup and Rhyme was left with the decision of continuing solo or giving up his dream of making it all together. This is where his love and passion for hip hop music began to become the driving force that would again lift his spirits and propel him back into the studio. The other driving force is credited to his upbringing that was instilled in him from his parents (James and Bertha) when he was a little boy. His mother to this day tells him "You gotta claim it and believe it can happen". His father taught him that only through consistency will your skill level reach the level of mastery.
Rhyme has two siblings, an older sister (Anona) affectionately called "Nona Boo" and older brother Rod. When he was younger, his father would catch him in the basement on his big sister's stereo turntable scratching records and pretending he was rapping. His father would tell him he's going to break that needle or scratch those records with all of that nonsense. But little did anyone realize that this was the beginning of the era that would birth the person that is now known as Young Rhyme.
Earlier in the days of the rap group Crowns, Young Rhyme was known by his peers as Rhyme Bomb. Eventually he would drop the latter part of the name and add Young to the beginning. He felt times were changing and no one was believing his age, especially at liquor stores so he adopted the name Young.
Recently Rhyme was considered for the Sound Track to the movie "Step Up" and this is where the song entitled "Gotta Rise" originated from. Though it did not make the soundtrack it has opened doors of new possibilities and industry contacts. When referring to his style he says "It's got to be fresh but different. That's the only way to make a name for yourself." The difference between Young Rhyme and other artists is his own unique style and dedication to his vision of hardwork and success. His songs are timeless, leaving lasting and memorable impressions on fans. Heart and soul, passion and pain are felt on songs like, "Help Me Lord" and "Gotta Rise". The difference is he has not attempted to reinvent the wheel, but he constantly reinvents his contributions to the game.
Young Rhyme made his silver screen debut in, "My Best Friends Wedding", as a director-selected extra along side (Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz). Young Rhyme then went on to acquire small roles in Hoodlum (Lawrence Fishburne and Queen Latifah) and The Negotiator(Samuel Jackson). Feeling more passionate about his music, he has decided to put the acting on hold but plans to pursue an acting career after establishing a solid recording career first. That being said, he's still being considered for the lead role in a major film about a retired NBA star, so you never know when you'll see him next! He was taught there are four stages to an entertainers career - 1. Young Rhyme who? 2. Get me Young Rhyme. 3. Get me a younger Young Rhyme. and 4. Young Rhyme who?
Young Rhyme will definitely be one of the premier emerging new artist of this hip hop/film era. Stay tuned to his page because he says "If things go the way they're shaping up to look like they're gonna go, alot of people who haven't seen me in a while will be shocked by my accomplishments". Young Rhyme is the Next Big Thing!! GOD BLESS!!! O'yeah, you have to click on the pictures below to read the captions. One Love.
