Young Tradition has been an annual showcase contest at Waterfront Park in Burlington as part of Kids Day, and showcase and other events featuring children, youth and young adults who sing, dance and/or play in folk and traditional styles. Audience favorites are chosen at the annual contest, awarded cash prizes, and featured in showcase and other events in Vermont and other parts of New England and Quebec. The 5th annual Young Tradition Weekend will include the annual contest in addition to a contra dance, workshops, a reception/session/awards presentation, an evening concert and an open sing. In 2009 events will be held at Waterfront Park and various other Burlington locations on May 15th, 16th and 17th.
