There have been a series of surprise ICE - (Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the largest branch of the Department of Homeland Security, created after 9/11 as a way to "fight terrorism" - by targeting illegal immigrants) - raids in the Bay Area in the last two days. At least 70+ people have been detained. There will be an emergency rally tomorrow (Monday) at 11:00 am at City Hall, followed by a noon rally at ICE, located at 630 Sansome. Several pieces of legislation have passed and more sit brewing at various levels of government review, to criminalize illegal immigrants and make employers unaccountable for using them and then ratting them out. It's fucked.
