when you were looking at me
in sunlight.
and now at night i remember
those black holes
(alluring black hole islands in two oceans of
blue iris)
i think i could stare into those
two small holes for hours.
it seems they also are
bottomless, it seems your black pupils
from my vantage point
held some eternity of gaze;
they held your nothingness,
your nothingness without echo,
your nothingness of yes,
your nothingness of unknown,
you received me in
your inner
space

de Vie is a poet, artist and musician living in Tucson, Arizona. Musically, she currently sings, writes songs, plays piano and the mbira dza vadzimu. She also writes tons of poetry. Her song lyrics occasionally start from a poem. She has spent serious time on music and words since the age of 7. Classically trained, she graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's magna cum laude degree in music performance and composition in 1999.
