Darren Smith is the drummer and owner of YourDrumStudio.com. He grew up in Nova Scotia, the east coast of Canada, and has been drumming since age 10. At the age of 18 Darren decided to move to the USA to further his music career.
He has toured the world with several bands, and has recorded drums for hundreds of songs. During his early professional career Darren also was also a cruise ship drummer, completing 7 contracts. He performed many different styles of music, doing everything from Broadway shows, Celtic and country music; to backing up rock acts and hip hop groups.
A graduate and former T.A. at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, he has learned from some of the best drummers such as: Horacio Hernandez (Carlos Santana), John Riley (Miles Davis) and Chuck Silverman (Julio Iglesias).
Beyond the drums, he also attended the Recording Artist Program at Musicians Institute. This enabled him to start recording on his own, and later open up his own recording studio. Today the studio is used for the YourDrumStudio.com website recordings, as well as full band recordings. Darren currently splits his time between his studios in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
