the druthers are an acoustic (primarily) roots/americana/folk rock band in the washington, dc area. comprised of seasoned performers in various areas of performing arts with varied musical backgrounds, the druthers draw on their collective experience in development of their unique sound.
since the band's inception in late 2004, the druthers have painstakingly worked to develop this sound - combining influences from MANY musical genres.

DRETHREN n. - members and fans of a very famous and somewhat flagrant and disreputable band of upscale low lifes called THE DRUTHERS comprised of male and female, drethren and sistren, who are heck-bent on making merry and existing outside the norms of age, sex, good taste, and moral inoperatives.

An American walks into an Irish pub and says, "I'll give anyone $100 if they can drink 10 Guinness's in 10 minutes." Most people just ignore the absurd bet and go back to their conversations. One guy even leaves the bar. A little while later that guy comes back and asks the American "Is that bet still on?" "Sure," he says. So the bartender lines 10 Guinness' up on the bar the Irishman drinks them all in less than 10 minutes. As the American hands over the money he asks, "Where did you go when you just left?"
The Irishman answers, "I went next door to the other pub to see if I could do it." :)
Hi! Thanks for the add. I learned about you all through a craigslist add looking for musicians. (I play mandolin). I don't think I'm quite at the point to be playing with you all, but if you know of any other folks you know that would want to just mess around and jam sometime, please let me know.
