"Life is a twisted maze of obstacles, presented by people with a secret face." - Chuck Schuldiner; in the song 'Secret Face' by Death; from the album, "Human."

I guess I put my interests here, right? Well, obviously I'm a big fan of anime and a lover of music (you can explore my love for said interests more in depth at the above links). And yes, I am a METALHEAD. I don't only listen to metal, but it is my most beloved genre of music; metal is not only a giant part of my life, but it's also a part of who I am as a human being. That doesn't mean that I fit into any kind of negative stereotype, however. I may have the long hair and (sometimes) the scraggly beard, and I may act br00tal and thrash around a lot (THRASH 'TIL DEATH!), but I don't consider myself an evil, violent, depressed, hateful or close-minded person. I'm actually quite the opposite in ALL respects, and there are a lot of metalheads out there who also defy the negative stereotypes that many have heard (and that some have wrongfully spread around).
Naturally, another one of my main interests is spending as much time as I can with my close friends. I don't know where I would be, without them (probably a lot worse off emotionally than I am now, at the very least) and I love them all, dearly. Unfortunately, almost all of my close friends live several hours (driving distance) away, and I only get to hang out with them once or twice a month (some, even less than that). But, I don't let that get me down and I just remain glad that I've been able to stay close to so many people over the years, despite the various circumstances.
Currently, I live on my own and I eat much more fast food than I should. :p I fear the day when my metabolism dies a horrible death and I start breaking the scale. I honestly need to start working out and eating healthier, I readily admit this.
Music
Type O Negative - September Sun [Radio Edit]; from the album, "Dead Again."
"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosphy. Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents." - Ludwig van Beethoven
"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Red Auerbach
"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything." - Plato
Those quotes above are the best collections of words that I could find to describe my love and admiration for music, and why I find it so important in life. But truthfully, no words can adequately describe such a marvel; that is because music itself is the universal language upon which we are able to communicate that which cannot be put into words.
I put the above video by Type O Negative in my profile for several reasons. First of all, Type O Negative is perhaps my favorite metal band and I am happy to know that after 20 years of making music, these guys are still able to write possibly the best song of their entire career (the full version of 'September Sun,' released in 2007). Beyond that, I also feel that this song so powerfully and fearlessly conveys so many emotions that a person like myself can relate to.
It is common belief among men these days that it is 'strong' and 'masculine' to refuse to show any emotion, especially not any emotions related to pain and weakness. I believe that this notion is not only ridiculous, but also a sign of immaturity and weakness. It takes a truly brave person to address, express and handle his/her emotions; if one never expresses his/her pain, he/she will never be able to triumph over weakness and let that pain go. I wish more people understood this.

Books
I read through websites a lot and I like browsing magazines, but I don't really read books very often. I read at only an average speed and I'm not very good at picturing things in great detail in my mind. Still, I would like to begin reading more often and to expand my knowledge on various subjects.
Currently, I am reading 'Scar Tissue' by Anthony Kiedis and Larry Sloman; it is an autobiography of Kiedis, who has been the frontman of The Red Hot Chili Peppers since 1982 (save for one week in 1988, when he was kicked out of the band) and up until the present.
Out of the books I have already read, here are my favorites -
"Interview With the Vampire" by Anne Rice.
"The Vampire Lestat" by Anne Rice.
"The Odyssey" by Homer.
"Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain" by Charles R. Cross.

It's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
You're sure
There's a cure
And you have finally found it
You think
One drink
Will shrink you 'til you're underground
And living down
But it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
Prepare a list of what you need
Before you sign away the deed
'Cause it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
So just...give up

I don't know how well I'm going to be able to describe myself in a few paragraphs, but I'll do my best. First and foremost, I acknowledge that I am far from a perfect person and that I will make mistakes. I also have a bit of a bipolar personality; when I'm with friends and we're just having fun, I'm mostly goofy, aloof, laid back, always cracking jokes and free-spirited. When I'm by myself or when I'm surrounded by strangers with secret faces, I'm often quiet, plaintive, reflective, nostalgic and sometimes deep in thought. This is not to say, however, that I can't be goofy and aloof when I'm by myself, too. Ultimately, I guess it depends on the situation and on what I'm doing.
To quote the Godfather of Death Metal, Chuck Schuldiner [R.I.P.], "I'm a lover of life and friendships...I'm an animal lover...[metalheads] are people, too!" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fSnXEtpb6s, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZEo7zMAwlE] I find myself most drawn towards people who are outsiders and who've experienced so many of the struggles in life, but who've persevered and kept themselves from giving up or turning into a bad person. I guess it's because I can relate to those people the best. I'm not saying that my life has been any more or less difficult than anyone else's (and I know that I have a lot to be thankful for), but I can say for sure that I've felt the various kinds of pain that are just apart of the baggage one carries around in the airport of life. As much as I can, I like to reach out to like-minded people and show them that I care and to just be a friend. But, I know that due to the inherent selfishness and guardedness in all people (including myself), this is often more difficult than it sounds.
The reason I put the song 'Wise Up' by Aimee Mann at the top of my About Me is because I wanted to break the ice with everyone. I know that we all dig ourselves into so many holes and we're not going to get out of them until we wise up and start climbing out of them. And yeah, I know that it's hard...but it's the only way to break the cycle and move forward in life. I've had to wise up over many things, too; I still do, and I'll be doing it until the day I die. It's just a part of life (I hope I'm making some kind of sense and that I'm not sounding like a pretentious moron :p).
OMG, how did I miss your Happy Bathday/Birfday wish? You're the only one who wished me it. thank you. I celebrated it late by seeing a Tchaikovsky and Brahms symphony performance. Twas wonderful. And funderful. In fact, I need to go to more shows. Symphonies and theater performances, the like. The Orange County Performance art has the best shows. In fact, they're going to do the Nutcracker ballet show near Christmas, with the Russian Ballet. And....I saw Spamalot the day before, brilliance! Patsy stole my heart.
I'm alright. :) Just got home from one of my classes. I go back up to Columbus at 5:30 for Anatomy & Physiology. I'm sooo not looking forward to that. Wish me luck! So how are you?
She'll turn 17 on July 22. As long as the girl is post-pubescent she's okay lol. It's not my rule. It's nature's. Besides, only a gay man wouldn't be attracted to her. Hell, I'll even bet gay men wish they looked like her.
Hahaha. The gay fish pics are even better than the Varg one.
The Chase is easily my favorite action/comedy/romance. Come to think of it, it's the only action/comedy/romance I can think of. But it's one of my all-time favorite movies altogether.
