H3ro, Born Justin Wes Daniels, is an up-and-coming Emcee/Hip Hop artist currently unsigned working from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born in West Columbia, South Carolina, he began his musical career at age 16, under the alias "JD". After an Argument with a friend over whether he could use his name or not, Kidchaos, a South Carolina Artist, officially dubbed Daniels "Junior Blaze".
With the release of his first mixtape, "Who Iz Junior Blaze?" in March 2008, Daniels began to become a household name in his community, eventually achieving the recognition of DJs and other local artists in his area. He was noted for his unique, lyrical sound which many believe to be non-existant ever since Pop rap took over the radiowaves. Songs like "Who I am" and "Insert Girl name Here" both are highly regarded South Carolina produced songs, despite their low quality and use of already commercialized beats.
During the summer of 2008, Hiro (Then Junior Blaze), Released his Second Mixtape, "Recovery", which was his response to those who told him he'd never make it. It was a bolder step for Daniels, as it also presented somewhat foul language, though stand-out tracks were uncovered such as "Blind Eyes", "Don't Come Down", and "Nightmares". Being out of school when produced, this mixtape was not as widely known as his first, but did however show his progress as an Artist. With the last verse of the CD, he ended the album by saying "However I guess I'll never Junior Blaze them again, The End" as if it were to be his last song, but clarified this by saying he was merely dropping the "Junior" of his name and wanted to be known as "Blaze" from that point onward.
Soon after, in September 2008, he was relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where he was unknown, though he aimed to change that with his third and supposedly final mixtape, "Earthbound". Earthbound was Daniels' statement saying that he was gonna have to be grounded before he could pursue a career in music, and therefore his mixtape addressed issues regarding himself more personally. Track two, entitled "Never Say Goodbye", was his Tribute to his hometown back in South Carolina, and helped get his emotions heard by those whom didn't even know he existed.
"Earthbound" dropped november 2008 with favorable reviews. While some consider it "A slip from the raw Blaze from recovery and the ambitious one of "Who Iz Junior Blaze?", others saw his lyrical prowess shine even when facing adversity. His first political song, "Politics as usual", was a favorite as it modeled the problems he had with our 42 president of the United States, George Bush. Other stand outs include "Shoot to the Moon" and "The Ghost", in which he explores the concept of paranormal life after death behavior.
On Christmas 2008, Daniels realized that if he were to ever become someone in the music business, he would have to rely solely upon himself. Thats when he changed his name to Hiro. A play off of Hero, after seeing the Dark Knight, Daniels believed that he is the "Hiro of Hip Hop. Saving it before Nastradamus's prediction of it being dead really comes to life."
Since then, he has announced his first EP, entitled "Hiroshima". The Mixtape is in production now, and Daniels has more faith in this project than any of the other ones before it.
"As an Artist I've come a long way in 2 years. I know the ins and outs of my own vocabulary, and I also know what my fans like. And that, my friends, is real rap music. I am a hero to those kids who sit around playing old 90s Nas and Tupac while their friends are outside doing the "Marco Polo". Most of all though, I'm a hiro to myself and my family. With that in mind, I can do anything."
***UPDATE***
June 18th, 2009:
Sup Fam. As you can see, the name's been changed to H3RO now. gotta love the 3, right??? Also, since February I've managed to release an 18-track album known as "Secret Identity Krisis". That produced some of the hits you see now like "Whilen" and "The Greatest". "Friction", on the other hand, is a scratch version from my upcoming full length, titled "H3ROIN". Its on another level. Keep on the lookout for it, and together we can save Hip Hop. :)
