Cable Cam Downhill Footage

Our own Walker Thompson found this video floating around the web, and linked to it in his latest blog. But we figured it was such a cool video we had to post it here ourselves. The video was shot using a cable cam rig, in which the camera is "strung up" on a system of cables to give the viewer a sense of flying along with the subjects. The riding location is Mt. Prevost, Duncan, British Columbia.

A tour of Gallup, NM, and Grand Lake, CO

This is just a taste of the scenery/trails that Gallup and Grand Lake have to offer. Two little hidden bastions of mountain biking.Nothing, too crazy, just a bit of everyday cycling. Enjoy and thanks for viewing!

About me:

What's YourMTB.com all about?

Your stories. Your pics. Your vids. Your advice. YourMTB.com is all about YOU!

This site features stories, photos and videos that mountain biking enthusiasts post to the site in order to share their adventures with others who love this great sport. Articles are written by anyone who has a cool mountain biking story to tell, or advice to give, or a review of a biking product they use, etc. The founders of YourMTB.com believe in the concept of "citizen media" (sometimes it's also called "grassroots media" or "citizen journalism"). That simply means people telling their own stories -- not relying on a "professional journalist" to tell it for them. We provide the venue.

About Us:

Walker Thompson, YourMTB's enthusiast-in-chief, began his cycling obsession at the age of 10. Encouraged by his family, Walker's racing took shape on the many trails throughout Oklahoma and the Southeast. Walker was successful as a young racer. However, after enjoying many competitive achievements in the prairies and pines, he took a break during the 2001 season to pursue more challenging and epic riding throughout the Four Corners region. After a year of training in Colorado, Utah and Arizona, Walker jumped back into racing with a stronger set of skills. He now is based in Durango, Colorado, a place he calls home, where his passion for mountain biking has extended well beyond racing.

Who I'd like to meet:

HydraPak Post of the Week: Seeing the Light

YourMTB.com member RedThunder is winning the newest Post of the Week contest because he's the only community member we know of who's been to the gates of MTB Heaven. That's the only explanation we can come up with for why he was able to take a picture as beautiful as the one he submitted this week, and why anyone who sees it can't blame the subject for "going towards the light."

For proving that all mountain bikers go to heaven, we're awarding RedThunder the HydraPak Post of the Week! By winning, he'll be getting a brand new Scramble Hydration Pack.

Have you been to the gates of MTB Heaven, but didn't go towards the light? Prove it by posting a picture, video or blog of your heavenly trip, and next week's winner could be you!

Every time he posted a picture or video this month, it prompted a slew of dropped jaws. Check out his intense picture gallery and quality video collection for the visual high.

For sharing his MTB visual mastery and delight with us, ttamwerdna will receive a Thomson seat post and stem of his choice.

Mastering MTB visuals? Continue posting them to YourMTB.com, and next month's winner could be YOU!
