I thrill to the old song, How Great Thou Art Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great Thou art; how great Thou art!
My Family
I am blessed with a wonderful family. When I was much younger, my identity came more from what I did, work, hobbies, etc., than from who I am. Since I became a dad, I have had more joy in fatherhood than I could ever have imagined. I am so grateful to my wife for wanting a large family and for giving me four wonderful sons and two lovely daughters. Just when I thought I couldn't be blessed anymore, my oldest sons brought us two more "daughters" to love in their two wives, and my daughter brought us a new son from Slovakia in her husband. Now we have seven granddaughters (well, five with two more due in June and September respectively). Isn't life grand?
My Church
Christian Fellowship Assembly is an extended family. Our church isn't just a cold organization, but a living organism, made up of some of the most wonderful people in the world. I love to sing and worship God with these wonderful folks. If you're checking out my site and don't have a church home, you need to visit us at Christian Fellowship Assembly.
The Farm
In my spare time I enjoy our farm with it's nineteen horses, including an 8-month-old filly and a 7-month-old colt, and my special mare, Beauty. Below is one of our colts, Tybee, at less than 1 day old.
Politics
I enjoy getting involved some political campaigns. If the cause is just and right, I can be very committed. For example, I was proud to help elect Jack White to the Georgia House of Representatives. He gave me the picture below to commemorate my day of service as Chaplain for the House.
Pictured from left to right are Jack White, myself and the Speaker of the House. The picture was taken in the chamber, standing by the podium. After delivering the morning devotion, we toured the Captial building and visited Governor Sonny Perdue.

Music
My favorite music is Praise and Worship Music especially when we we sing it together from our hearts.
I also enjoy listening to contermpary Christian music. Some of my favorite artists include Michael W. Smith; Carman; Phillips, Craig, and Dean; and 4 Him.
I also enjoy classical music, some country music ballads, and children's music.
Movies
I loved The Passion of Christ. I admire Mel Gibson for having the guts to stand up to all the opposition he received to do this movie.
Narnia was a wonderful movie that I enjoyed seeing on the big screen with my family. We just bought it on DVD and Jeffrey has already watched it again.
National Treasure was a good movie a clean too. I like seeing action movies that are also decent enough to recommend to my young people at church.
Finding Nemo still grabs my attention anytime it's playing.
A Bug's Life was also great. You might have a hard time believing this, but I bought the toy ant and grasshopper to use as an illustration for a sermon! It was really fun!
Television
We watch FOX News. Sometimes I wonder why I have all those other channels, but we really enjoy Bill O'Reilley and Hannity and Colmes.
Books
Besides the Bible, other books that have inluenced my life include In His Steps, by Charles Sheldon; The Fourth Dimension, by Paul Yongi Cho; and The Purpose Driven Church, by Rick Warren.
Heroes
Jesus Christ
Of course Jesus Christ is at the top of the list. The old chorus, "To Be Like Jesus," really declares the desire of my heart, "to be like Him." My other heroes are godly men who are rising to that challenge to be like Christ.
Marvin D. Hocker
My mother gave me my dad's middle name. The "D" in Marvin D. Hocker stand for Daniel. Mother gave me his middle name so I wouldn't be called "Marvin" or "Junior." Since a name is what we make it, I can only say that I am so very proud of my father, that I would have been proud to have been called "Marvin Daniel Hocker, Jr."
Odell Cochran
My father in law, Odell Cochran, has exemplified Christian Integrity to me, and must have a place among my heroes. Not only has modeled Christian character and financial responsibilty, but also taught so much about being a good citizen. Because of him I am an active member of the Republican Party in Whitfield County, where he serves on the Board of Commissioners.

About me: I pastor Christian Fellowship Assembly in Tunnel Hill, Georgia where I have lived for the last twenty four years.
Thirty one years ago my wife and exchanged vows at Ida Cason Calloway Memorial Chapel in Calloway Gardens. I loved her then, and I love her even more now as our love has grown deeper and stronger through the years.
Our Wedding Day May 6, 1977
Kissing the Bride
Thirty one years later, we have six children including four sons and two daughters (Daniel, Jr., Miranda, Gareth, Graham, Monnie, and Jeffrey).
We became grandparents when our first granddaughter, Daisy was born on March 9, 2006.
Becoming a grandfather is one of the most exciting things that has happened to me. Daisy was absolutely the most beautiful grandbaby ever born; at least that's how I saw it, then. I am so blessed. Then February 9th of 2007 my Daniel, and his wife, Bethany, will had their first child, our second granddaughter, Abby!
Now, Miranda and Karol have had their first little girl, Kara and the blessings continue! Gareth and Jessica have added a second daughter, Adele and are expecting a third, Ruth, in June! Daniel and Bethany have a second daughter, Emma, and Mirand and Karol are expecting their second daughter in September! That's right That makes seven granddaughter! There are no grandsons yet, but I have faith!

Dropping by to say hello to you and your family. I am sure that everything is going well with you these days. Hope you are having a great and blessed week.
Hey! It's been a while since I'd heard from you and wanted to make sure all was well. I'm going to ask Dee to come to church sometime in the next few weeks, but I'm going to see how my cracked ribs do - right now, I can't ride very long at all before they start killing me!
Hey Pastor Dan, Just dropping by to say hello since i have not stopped by in a while. My husband is going to have surgery on the june 19th and i need all the prayers that i can get. Have a blessed week.
Dan...it's been my pleasure to stay in touch! I miss you so much at times, it's crazy! I was chatting with someone today and realized I still consider you "my pastor" and it will probably be that way for a long time to come! :-) You're just one of those pastors who make it hard for anyone to follow in your shoes!
