About me: Hi, my name is Jeff Jesseman. Although may bid for Selectman of Franconia, New Hampshire was unsuccessful, I am committed to the ideals my campaign was based on; Openess, Accountability, Accessibility, and Communication. Simple, right? We'll see as this page is now focused on being a clearinghouse of information about Franconia's government.
Defeat may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don't succeed, try another way. For every obstacle there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up. Author: Anonymous
The direction you have taken with your page is great! You are an inspiration.
Jeff is one of the most honest people I have ever met. He is a humble man that speaks when he has something important to say. People that know him on a personal level know to pay attention when he does speak up because he doesn't do so unless it has value. He tends to see the best in people and situations. From knowing him, I am aware that many things were awakened in him since 5/11. One of those things was to pay attention to local government. He was one of many citizens across our country that had what is "a blind" trust in government. He just expected that anyone interested enough to be a part of local government was there to serve the public. He has since learned this is not always the truth and it was an uncomfortable truth for him to see. To recognize this fact is not a marker of a negative person but a measure of Jeff's willingness to face the truth even if it is unpleasant, to openly acknowledge it and to make a positive difference by putting his money where his mouth is in a willingness to serve his community by running for the Franconia Select Board position. This is a far greater decision than just a political choice for him but a choice and commitment of the heart to contribute to the future in a positive way. He is not one to stay mired in the problem but one to see the reality of a situation, look for the solution, and move toward a remedy for current issues and problems.
I found myself curious as to how election votes are counted and by whom in your town. How are the townspeople assured accuracy and honesty? Is there a measure of accountability? Do you know the process? If so can you share it here on your site?
"Our future may lie beyond our vision, but it is not completely beyond our control...."
.....See, Candidate Jesseman is clearly a an of vision, who sees far enough down the road that he and Selectman Quinn may even help steer the town out of trouble.
I have complete faith in your ability to serve your community. This is part of a speech given by RFK which I listened to this morning. The portion below made me think of you.
"The future does not belong to those who are content with today, apathetic toward common problems and their fellow man alike, timid and fearful in the face of new ideas and bold projects. Rather it will belong to those who can blend vision, reason and courage in a personal commitment to the ideals and great enterprises of American Society.
"Our future may lie beyond our vision, but it is not completely beyond our control. It is the shaping impulse of America that neither fate nor nature nor the irresistible tides of history, but the work of our own hands, matched to reason and principle, that will determine our destiny. There is pride in that, even arrogance, but there is also experience and truth. In any event, it is the only way we can live."
