In the third person: Carrie and Alex have been together making music in The Paper Orchestra (now Orkestar) for the last year or two, but in summer of 2007 Alex had songs that just didnt fit their other band and he asked carrie to come play a show with him under the name Alexander and the Growing Mind in Santa Barbara, and thus their partnership was born. In the next six months they played Alex's songs and then they started really collaborating in the winter and started pumping out stuff to play. With college coming up the two lovers will be split by over 1000 miles and as that approaches the couple is writing more and recording, trying to release their first album before they leave in July of 2008. Long distance collaboration and a long distance relationship is imminent in their future but occasionally they hope to get together to play one off shows and maybe tour during school breaks. Alex is going to continue to make music and record at Berkeley, and dont expect Carrie to stop writing music and stories in Wooster, Ohio.
We'd love to play a show everywhere thats anywhere with in a good distance (maybe similar to the iamb/watercolor paintings 100-200 miles formula). Just send us a message!
In other words, this is Alexp and Carrie (from The Paper Orchestra) and their band (which may or may not overlap with The Paper Orchestra) which is recorded at Alexs house with a little help from friends and his brother Ryan.
We hope to have our album done by early july(update: yes early july is what we're shooting for. All the basic tracking is done, we have to overdub parts and mix it now! WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR A LABEL TO RELEASE IT!), but in the meantime you can listen (and sometimes download) songs from our player as well as get stuff from these various sources: Releases! just tough id let you know that while I was looking at your page an ad came up for maille hacky sacks. coincidence? I think not... new songs sound hot.
Heyyyyy! YES, irene is definitely a top favorite band of mine. They're extremely nice too. I left them a comment one day just saying hello and that I really enjoy their music and they responded with a sweet reply. :)
Oooooh, I'd love to do a Park show. Let me see if I can scrounge up some bandmates. It's currently just me and my drummer. I'm working on recording some new songs this weekend so I'll let you know by Sunday! :)
How are things going with you guys? Having a lovely summer I hope.
No problem! I love the music :) I'm a big ukulele fan so big ups to you guys! Hahah. PS: On The Road is amazing. It's making me want to travel everywhere. Hahah.
