About Youth Against Poverty
Youth Against Poverty is a MySpace page focused on spreading awareness of child poverty. We are the youth of the world, like yourselves, who have recognized the need to educate ourselves and those around us in the hopes that this awareness will inspire others to lend their own voice to the cause of eradicating poverty. It is our sincere belief that by employing our greatest and most effective weapons – our voices – we can help bring an end to child poverty. Our motto is 'Lend your voice to make a difference.' Our question is whether you will join us and lend your own voice in our global effort to end child poverty and rewrite our history. We are the youth of the world, and the future is ours.
Through MySpace, we hope reach a diverse group of young people interested in taking a stand against child poverty. The page will be updated daily with resources, facts and news regarding child poverty around the world. Bulletins will also be posted frequently to make it easier for supporters to be up to date with the latest news.

We Have The Resources
At the Monterrey Financing for Development Conference in 2002, world leaders pledged “to make concrete efforts towards the target of 0.7%” of their national income in international aid. In today’s dollars, that would amount to almost $200 billion each year.
In 2005, total aid from the 22 richest countries to the world’s developing countries was just $106 billion—a shortfall of $119 billion dollars from the 0.7% promise. On average, the world’s richest countries provided just 0.33% of their GNP in official development assistance (ODA). The United States provided just 0.22%.
The cost of eradicating poverty is 1% of global income.
