We are YOUTHROOTS -- high school critical media producerz and leaders of the 21st century. We rep the Town, but we love the world. We trying to get ourz in this society by rooting ourselves in our community as leaderz, producerz, & changerz. We're strapped with weapons of the 21st century to act and interact as street scholars, artists, organizers, and multi-media producers.
Plus we noe whazzup....Real talk...We noe wassup wit da forces that try to bring down our fam in our inner city communities, but we also are building the skills and knowledge to infiltrate, study, disrupt, dismantle, and produce this revolutionary culture that Dead Prez be talkin about.
We use urban sociology, music production, digital journalism (podcast), hip hop theatre, spoken word, graphic design, paint brushes, spray cans, and cyber space to reprezent ourselves in four roles:
Word Warriors
Cyber Souljas
Image Infiltrators
Breakin that down, here's what that means...
WORD WARRORS use the critical ideas and language we learn to communicate in the written and spoken word through informational materials, verbal discourse, and Hip Hop Theatre.
CYBER SOULJAS use internet weapons like podcasting, myspace & youtube to reach our peers
IMAGE INFILTRATORS use digital photography and graphic design to influence thought and change in things we make like flyers, posters, and silk screened t-shirts.

To Release isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore. It doesn't leave feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret. It's not about pride and it's not obsessing or dwelling on the past. It's not about giving in or giving up. To let go is to cherish the memories, but to overcome and move on. Letting go is learning and experiencing and growing. To release is to be thankful for the experiences that made you laugh, made you cry, and made you grow. It's about all that you have, all that you had, and all that you will soon gain. Letting go is releasing and having the courage to accept change, and the strength to keep moving. It is realizing that the heart can sometimes be the most potent remedy. To let go is to open a door, and to clear a path and set yourself free---
Youthroots, remember that it's easy to let go when holding on hurts so bad--so free yourself from all these expectations and just be :-) Hope you find the unity in my new single "Release" feat. JRockA.
