Youth Speaks is changing Seattle through the power of words. Our vision is to build community through poetic cultural exchanges that transcend boundaries, including those of age, race, class, culture, and sexual orientation. Our mission is to aid young poets' personal transformation and nurture self-expression through mentorship, workshops, and supportive public performance opportunities to amplify the youth voice.
By enhancing public education with school-based programs and performances, teacher trainings, and after-school workshops, Youth Speaks encourages young people to think critically, to write and speak honestly, and reclaim their own educational process so that the next generation of leaders may emerge.
You can make a change in the world through your words.
Support Youth Speaks Seattle this weekend at a Barnes & Noble Bookfair!
This Fri-Sun, June 6-8th, a portion of all proceeds at the downtown Barnes & Noble (Pacific Place, on 7th and Pine) will be donated to us to support our work. Just mention Youth Speaks Seattle at checkout and please spread the word!!
