Since 1995, YSKP has been producing plays in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Beginning in 1997, we have annually commissioned an original musical from regional and nationally known playwrights including Carlyle Brown, Peggy Pettitt, Tony Dallas, George Sand and Louise Smith. Currently we have 2 shows coming up.

This new multimedia musical presents coming of age across cultures. Taking a unique approach to outsourcing, Chilean teens on tape interact with live action in the Amphitheater to present a fun and fascinating look at flirting, dating and manners on both side of the border. Development of this project is made possible through an International Partnership grant from the Ohio Arts Council and with the Balmaceda 1215 Arts Center of Santiago, Chile.

A new adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel, Around the World in 80 Days highlights the voices, experiences, dance, dress, and music of local ethnic and emerging new immigrant groups in and around Springfield, OH. This project is a new partnership with Springfield partners the Springfield Arts Council and Springfield StageWorks. Development of the play features a cultural study and discussion of life in contemporary Springfield for development of the play as well as for rehearsals. Our debut of this production at the Springfield Arts Festival includes exciting pageantry staging with giant puppets. This project is made possible with a grant from the Turner Foundation.
