   About YTDS

Back in a time before Bjorn Again made covers bands fashionable, Young Things Don't Scream came along and played Gary Numan songs, live, lively and loud, specialising in songs Numan himself didn't play live. They lost a drummer, a bass player and even a singer (!) before splitting up to go on to other things.

Fast forward 20 years and YTDS are back together; still all live and lively, playing Numan songs from 1977 onwards - nothing taped, nothing sequenced - all 100% live. Forget synth pop - if you like your Numan loud, live and heavy on the synths - look out for YTDS, playing live near you.

Comments left on web forums after our shows...

Comeback Show At Ade Orange's Vibe, Epsom, 2007

"What a fab night!! I've got sore feet (new bloody shoes), a sore throat (way too much singing and shouting), but we had an absolutely brilliant time!"

"I have to say - I never saw YTDS first time around, but they were awesome! We both said we had loads more fun last night than we did at the last (Numan) SBE gig. You guys were spot on! Great set list too!"

"Fantastic evening!!! YTDS - WHY MAKE US WAIT SO LONG!!!! Wonderful entertainment"

"Had a great time. YTDS were really good"

"Great night - YTDS were great. Never seen em before, and didn't really know what to expect, but - class act."

"Next up was The YTDS wahey. Lot of pressure on them to do the business after the big build up and talk on the forums. And they kicked arse. Big time. Even that Ade bloke (who is in Gary Numans band) looked like he was enjoying it. They played all the hits including Cars and Down in the park and Are friends electric and some others that i dont know, but apparently Gary Numan doesn't play live. Anyway ,they went down a treat"

Manchester Aftershow Party March 2008

"thoroughly enjoyed it. Great show"

"Great set Phil - and both you and Rog were excellent on the keyboards. Loved your two guitarists, the bass player is extremely good and your lead player is a star. The singer did well to cope with the FOH problems and despite all the problems (and I've been there and done them mate, so I can only sympathise) you gave a top show."

"YTDS were fun, Bombers a highlight, and the drummer was very good."

"Hi Phil and thanks to you and the guys for a cracking end to a fab night!! You were awesome & we had great fun watching Gary's band observe you all so intently ;-)"

"Great night out. Thanks for organising it...YTDS were really good"

"That was a really fun party. Your set was really enjoyable…I especially liked your version of Bombers. Thanks for a brilliant end to a great night out :-)"

"Thanks for a great night... I had a great time. Enjoyed YTDS as much as the other show across the road!!"

"We had a great time. YTDS were fabulous, great performance…BOMBERS was a real highlight. This was the first time I had seen YTDS so I was chuffed to se them perform so well. All in all, a great end to a great night. Thanks to all concerned."

"You played Numans early stuff with an edge that was reminiscent of the original Numan/Army days and you played them great, well done."

Think you could cover Miracles or Call Out The Dogs? Loved The Fury, and so far I noticed no one has ever covered anything from it. It's such an awesome record.

Terence MCKENNA: "Trying to describe them isn't easy. On one level I call
them self-transforming machine elves; half machine, half elf.
They are also like self-dribbling jeweled basketballs, about half
that volume, and they move very quickly and change. And they
are, somehow, awaiting. When you burst into this space, there's
a cheer! Pink Floyd has a song, "The Gnomes Have Learned a New
Way to Say Hooray." Then they come forward and tell you, "Do not
give way to amazement. Do not abandon yourself." You're
amazingly astonished. The most conservative explanation for
these elves, since these things are speaking English and are
intelligent, is that they're some kind of human beings. They're
obviously not like you and me, so they're either the prenatal or
postmortal phase of human existence, or maybe both, if you follow
Indian thinking. You're saying, "Heart beat? Normal. Pulse?
Normal." But your mind is saying, "No, no. I must be dead. It's
too radical, too fucking radical. It's not the drug; drugs don't
do stuff like this." Meanwhile, what you're seeing is not going
away."

Hi YTDS, thanks for continuing to be a friend of Electroflex.

Some important news!

Electroflex have been back in the studio following a break from gigging and recording with new track ‘Computer Virus’.

This is the first of a series of new releases for 2009, and what better day to start on than Liz’s Birthday!

‘Computer Virus’ is a live favourite.  Anyone forced to work with computers will know how evil they are and this track is Electroflex’s response to Kraftwerk’s ‘Its More Fun to Compute’.  It is a bouncy number with a serious bassline, sing-along chorus and a selection of curious samples.

The track will only be up on Myspace in full for a short time.  Alternatively, visit our
Facebook
and iLike pages where you can add the song to you playlists

All the best

Jacob and Liz.
