|
Yuan-Chen Li (b.1980, Taiwan, R.O.C.) As a Jacob Druckman Scholarship recipient, Yuan-Chen Li received the Artist Diploma from Yale University School of Music in 2008 and which she studied with Ezra Laderman and Martin Bresnick. She also receives MA and BA from Taipei University of the Arts which she studied with Tsung-Hsien Yang (Ph.D. Brandeis) and Chung-Kun Hung (DMA, Yale). Before entering to the college, Li had been studying composition with Ting-Lien Wu (Ph.D. UCLA) for ten years. Major awards and honors include Ezra Laderman Prize for best vocal music (2007), Rena Greenwalk Memorial Prize for the best piano writing (2008), First prize of Literature and Art Creation Award (2005), Chang-Hui Hsu Memorial Prize of Asian Composers League (2003), and Scholarship of Arts from Tzu Chi Foundation (2000). Parts of Li’s compositions have been published and included into the contemporary music repertory in Taiwan; represent one of the emerging generations of Taiwanese composers and receive reviews and studies by scholars and students. Li’s music is programmed in many concert series and festival: New Music New Haven (Yale, 2006-08), The Female Form: Women Composers (New York, 2008) by pianist Tanya Bannister, Listening to the 21st Century -- Works by Emerging Composers of Taiwan (Taipei, 2007), Soundbridges: Neue Musik Aus Suedostasien Und Taiwan (Berlin, 2007), Young Artist Recital -- Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Norfolk, 2007), Tune in to Taiwan 2003 (Taipei, 2003), Asian Music Festival (Tokyo, 2003), New Ideal Dance Festival (Taipei, 2003), Kuan Du Musical Soiree (Taipei, 2001).
