About Yu Kudo

工藤悠(Yu Kudo):drums

1977年3月14日生まれ。札幌出身。

兄の影響で中学1年の時にギターを弾き始める。
小樽商科大学でドラムに転向、ジャズ研究会のほか複数の音楽サークルに所属、
様々なジャンルの音楽に触れる中で自由に演奏することの楽しさを知る。
在学中より地元(札幌・小樽)のライブハウスでの演奏を開始して、
東京から来る多くのミュージシャンとも共演を果たす。
そして2000年、より多くの刺激を求めて上京する。

2006年には、pianist田中朋子(札幌在住)のトリオ(瀬尾高志b、工藤悠ds)で
CD「SAKURARAN」を発表(http://www.lazybird-groovy.com/label.html)。
JAZZ LIFE誌をはじめ、各方面から好評を博す。
また最近は「Yu trio」(工藤悠drums、臼井麻意子vibraphone、江上友彦bass)、
「TRIPLETS」(工藤悠drums、楠直孝piano、カイドーユタカbass)など、
様々なメンバーでのリーダーライブを行っている。
さらに作曲やソロドラムにも挑戦、ますます自己の音楽を追求している。

その情熱的でありながらも、決して温かい音色を忘れない演奏には定評がある。
