About YOUNG LEGEND-KING DA OF SIP-R.I.P. MY NIGGA CHAD--
Allow me to introduce the world to Young Legend a Mississippi native, born and raised in a small town about two hours south of Jackson, MS. "Man I grew up in a crab bucket," he says. "A small city full of haters. Everybody know everybody, and as soon as one person almost make it out, people do everything they can to pull you back in the bucket. That's why I say whatever the hell i feel, because niggaz gone hate anyway. Feel me? I mean I seen it happen over and over. High school football stars, basketball and baseball players, folks in this music, or just book smart cats, they get so caught up in the local hype or mixed up in the negativity, they forget that it's a whole world outside of Wayne County. I ain't no street nigga, but I'm a hood nigga you dig? I done did things you know, and i know people that did things. That just wasn't the life for me. Certain people were created for certain things (he pauses) and to live a certain lifestyle, i wasn't made to be no just thuggish type of guy. I love money, my family, my music, and freedom too much to risk five to ten or even LIFE in prison everyday." He laughs and continues, "So i did what i did and chilled for a couple of months. Made sure i had enough paper to stay fly at school and goof of in the mall on the weekends. I ain't never claimed to be no huge dopeboy. I TRIED. Ha ha, but C Powe said "Na man that ain't you." so i just stuck to rhyming man." The young sir started rapping in 1996 when he first heard JAY-Z's "Reasonable Doubt". He would spend the next 8-9 years battle rapping and performing in local clubs and he's been dominating every since. "It's not about the money," he says. "It's just something about being able to say whatever you feel at that time, knowing that you have the ears of hundreds, sometimes THOUSANDS of people. That's why I do this man. I need and want to be heard. Its somebody out there who feel me and i need to talk to em before they screw up....or give up." After bouncing around from various groups and numerous underground record labels, he finally figured out that he is most comfortable running his own show and after situations began to sour in Jackson, Ms he decided to do just that. IN 2004 he formed what is now known as BIG BANK CARTEL,inc. with his BAD NEWZ CLICK CREW . "Noone wanted to deal. Too many people wanted something from me but wouldn't give me anything." He says of his travels. "Its like I must've rapped for dozens of a&r's and DJ's, but at the end of the day noone would put some action behind it." In 2005 he released GIT FOCUSED vol. 1 and sold over 25,000 copies in a four city span. Now that may not sound like a lot to some, but when you take in to consideration that he was only 17 at the time, maybe your opinion will change. Now at the young age of 20 he has quickly become one of the south's most rising and promising stars, with the help of BIG BANK C.E.O. Tony H aka 100 GRAND. "Grand is good people man. He brains of the operation so to speak. I'm tha heart and he the brain. One won't make it withouth the other. We need each other man." Affectionately known to those around him as Envy "da God" ( He is quick to clarify that this has no religious meaning saying, "All it means is SUPREME MC....get it right there is only 1 GOD/JESUS CHRIST and to he be all the glory.) for being acclaimed by some to be THE BEST RAPPER AROUND....and some even would say one of THE BEST ALIVE!! When asked of this he finally shows some sort of emotion, leaning up, shrugging, and saying, "That's what they told you?". "Well, We'll see now won't we?" And indeed we will. Young Legend has already proved himself to those that follow him and to everyone in surrounding neighborhoods, cities and towns. Now it's time for him to show the world. "Lord willin man, by the middle of 08, i'll be runnin all this shit!" he says before hopping in a black escalade. It seems to be on cue when he rolls the window down and gives these parting words for competition, "Any rapper planning on doing anything better hurry up! (Be)cause later or sooner the game gone be a night club and me my niggaz gone be bouncers outside. Fuck a list and V.I.P. we ain't lettin nobody in!!!" As the escalade pulls off slowly heading back to Mississippi I can't help but think about Diddy(King of Diamonds), T.I.(King of Clubs), and Jay-Z(King of Hearts). In history when things come to a stand still a new cat always arrives with his eyes on the throne. I have seen three kings crowned in my life time, and I think I may have just met the fourth a.k.a. the King of Spades. (from "Lord Willin")
