A native of Indianapolis, IN Morris Childs (Mo) has a serious passion for music and began rapping at the age of 6. He can recall putting on shows in the garage with his cousin, "Our sisters would be the fly girls and we would rap." Mo draws his musical energy from his life experiences, and listening to all types of music. Growing up between parents, he was influenced by a lot of Gospel and R & B. "I can remember being glued to Video Soul with Donnie Simpson and Yo! MTV raps with Dre and Ed Lover." You can find a wide variety of music playing on his iPod at any given moment ranging from Jay-Z to Bjork and everything in between, like N.E.R.D. or Siguor Ros from the Ireland all of which contribute to his unique style.
Mo's inspiration comes from artists that bring something different to the ears of avid hip hop fans. "When I heard Rakim for the first time I went nuts, and Bjork, who uses everything from nature sounds to kitchen utensils." This self made producer and musician plays 5 different instruments, but the drums are his absolute favorite. Mo is driven to perfect his skills and make his life long dream of becoming a strong, solo musical talent become reality.
"As an artist I just love to make music that reaches everyone because no matter what race, gender, or religion, we have all experienced the same emotions....just in different degrees." Mo will without a doubt take the music industry by storm with his distinctive sound, and talents.
Donavan Jackson a.k.a Mastamynd
Mastamynd was born Donavan Jackson in Gary, Indiana on May 25, 1985. His family soon moved to Indianapolis, IN. He first started his interest in music in middle school bands and small musical gatherings. His continuing love for the art led him to play with Sycamore School's Band at Carnegie Hall. He also won various medals in Indiana's Solo & Ensemble competitions playing the clarinet. After falling in love with Hip-Hop, he became interested in the electronic side of music. This eventually led him to attend Full Sail in Winter Park, FL to study Recording Arts. While studying to become an engineer, Mastamynd also honed his production and lyrical talents. He met many musicians and their brand of music gained a small following in Winter Park. After graduating and returning to Indianapolis, he worked on several independent projects as engineer, lyricist, or producer.
Matthew Jones a.k.a DoLa
Matthew Jones a.k.a. DoLa was born in Indianapolis on November 24, 1984. Excelling in school and sports at a young age, DoLa was expected to focus on his studies and athletics. DoLa listened to music occasionally, but wasn..t formally introduced to his passion until age 13. If he wasn..t on the basketball court, you could find DoLa attempting to recreate hip-hop and R&B songs from the radio on his trumpet. DoLa would listen to whatever he could get his hands on, but he only owned two CD..s which was Jay-Z..s ..Hard Knock Life Vol. 2.. and DMX..s ..It..s Dark and Hell is Hot... Jay-Z influenced the craft of rap to DoLa while DMX helped DoLa apply his own life situations to music and learn. Around this time DoLa realized the effect music had on him. Just one song could hype him up or calm him down whenever he needed it. In high school DoLa would get in trouble constantly for making beats on his desk. Most of the time he wouldn..t realize he was beating on the desk until he was reprimanded. At age 15 started rapping and battling at lunch in high school. DoLa started making beats on Fruity Loops with Chad Wells and performing songs anywhere possible around Indianapolis wit Ray Mack, Chad Wells, Raylan Parker and Derrick Coleman. While in school DoLa met Marc Williams (a.k.a. DJ Kinetik) and Jeff James (a.k.a. Ghost) and formed the group ..Run ..em Out... The group did well at Butler University until Jeff James transferred to University of Tampa to continue playing basketball. Shortly after, struggles with financial aid led to a few financial problems that put a lot of stress on DoLa due to the uncertainty of a lot of things he was involved in. Going into his junior year things seemed to be at there lowest and his outlook and optimism was all but lost. When things couldn..t get much worse DoLa received a phone call telling him a friend of his had been murdered and less than two weeks later another friend was killed in an accident. DoLa still went to school and work everyday, but anyone who knew him could tell he just wasn..t the same person. He had lost his passion and his drive for living and started to live life as if it were meaningless. DoLa turned to God for help answers and God did just that. One day a man walked into DoLa..s job and spoke words that lifted the burdens on DoLa heart and soul. The man was not a preacher, but DoLa believes that person was sent from God to help him. Since that day music has been DoLa..s undying passion. Linking up with long time friend Chad Wells and new friends Mojo and Mastamynd, DoLa has a new outlook on what can be done with music and who can be reached.
Chad Michael Wells a.k.a C. Wells
Chad has been been around music since he was born. It's a lifestyle for him. His dad is a hand drummer and played in a lot of groups when he was a baby so being surrounded by talented musicians was the standard. He really took on PLAYING music when he was in 6th grade. He picked up the sticks and never looked back. He has played in all types of ensembles since middle school... and has won many awards; from jazz band for throwing down on the drumset and lacing vibe solos (total: 8), to leading his high school drumline to their first championship in 2002, and even starting to teach other top high school drumlines while only 17 and still in high school! That's only a few of the things that he accomplished in those years. After high school, he furthered his set of goals and set on a new adventure. He left for DCI right after he graduated and spent the summer of 2003 playing snare for the Colts. With using that experience paired with hard work, he upped the ante by marching snare for the World Champion 2004 Cavaliers (2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2006 DCI World Champions) Chad was also the center snare for the WGI drumline I2 (Indianapolis Indianapolis) for their record smashing first season in 2005. He has taught drum lessons since the age of 16, as well as power-house high school drumlines like New Palestine, Pike, Ben Davis, and Carmel. He has studied under Dan Christian, Jason Trigg, Mike McIntosh, and Jim Bailey along with attended Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis where he studied music theory, ear training, and played in numerous ensembles. So it's no suprise when producing and the rhythm of his flow came second nature to him. He plans to use his experience and knowledge in music to make an impact in music as a whole. What Chad listen's to/influences, here's a few. Rage Against The Machine, 311, Telefon Tel Aviv, Bone Thugs in Harmony, Dr. Dre, Hi-Tek, MF Doom, Tech 9, Joe Sample, Air, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Outkast, Organized Noise, Slum Village, Busta Rhymes, Dream Theatre, Eminem, Hypnotize Camp Posse, Lil Wayne, Malib, Dangermouse, Ludacris, Maroon 5, Missy, Craig Armstrong, Timberland, Snoop Dogg, T.I., Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang, Warren G, Twista, 8-Ball and MJG, System of a Down, Zero 7, Galactic, Jamiroquai, Screamin headless torsos... and on and on and on....
