Books
I am always reading several books at a time. More often than not, they consist of Old World literature, poetry and prose, history and educational texts and philosophic writings. Reading and writing are essential to my being: if I am ever shutout from either I may perish.
I am currently immersed in the poetry of Leonard Cohen's book "Flowers for Hitler"
My family and ancestors, The terminally ill, the single mother, the single father, the motherless child, the fatherless child, the orphaned, the homeless, the malnourished, the underprivileged, the oppressed, the enslaved, the murdered, the brokenhearted, the insane, the misunderstood, men who maintain a gentle approach towards women and children, ardent gentlemen, women who still love men with the vigor of old, the constant lady.
I am a 30 year old resident of Knoxville who loves all of the flowers and thorns life has to offer. On this plane I am but a point connected to all others.

“The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.”
I came across this beautiful version of Autumn Leaves, and became so enchanted by Eva Cassidy and her jazzy bluesy voice that I wanted to share the rhapsody with you. May the beauty of her voice, and the change of season touch your spirit.
Love & Peace 2 U, Yusef.
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~ Albert Camus
I'm well, Yusef...Thank you for asking. I'm enjoying the summer weather--It's such a wonderful time of year to connect with family and friends outdoors...I was thinking of you today--wondering what places your muse is taking you. We're thinking of seeing Cohen in San Jose, CA in November--I'm excited. It was so nice to receive your message with your kind wishes. Much love to you...
Hi Yusef...Just stopping by to share this film with you...Don't know if you saw the film, Into the Wild, by Sean Penn, based on the journal and true story of Christopher McCandless, but I have a feeling it will speak as deeply to you as it did me. It's one of my favorites. Hope your week is going well and that you are well. Much love 2 u...
Warmly, Bianca
The sea's only gifts are harsh blows, and occasionally the chance to feel strong. Now I don't know much about the sea, but I do know that that's the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. To measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions. Facing the blind death stone alone, with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head.
Love, peace, and blessings 2 U Sweet Yusef...Wishing U a wonderful weekend.
"This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet." ~Rumi~
My dear Yusef...I found this in the archives of my computer and created it for you some time ago...I'm just returning to baptize your page with it again...It seems only fitting to return it to its original home.
May the beauty of the day awaken you with joy.
The Guitar by Federico García Lorca Translated by Cola Franzen
The weeping of the guitar begins. The goblets of dawn are smashed. The weeping of the guitar begins. Useless to silence it. Impossible to silence it. It weeps monotonously as water weeps as the wind weeps over snowfields. Impossible to silence it. It weeps for distant things. Hot southern sands yearning for white camellias. Weeps arrow without target evening without morning and the first dead bird on the branch. Oh, guitar! Heart mortally wounded by five swords.
Thank you for your Cohen video--You always know how to make me smile…May the day hold much joy for you…Love & Peace 2 U Yusef.
Wild Geese
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting-- over and over announcing your place in the family of things. Mary Oliver

the word "sojourn" i once would have considered equate with "my life on this planet" except i realize the opposite is true. take that to mean what you will. ;) good to see your words on the computer! love the pic.
So true, I adore most of Cohen's songs for their lyrical bite, soothed by his voice and the music. The whole of each song is delivered with intimacy to the mind and soul. That's just the way if feels to me.
"Now the crickets are singing The vesper bells ringing The cat's curled asleep in his chair I'll go down to Bill's Bar I can make it that far And I'll see if my friends are still there Yes, and here's to the few Who forgive what you do And the fewer who don't even care And the night comes on It's very calm I want to cross over, I want to go home But she says, Go back, go back to the World" -The Night Comes On - (love this one)
