About me: The Discipleship Training School or "DTS" is one of the first steps to involvement in YWAM. A DTS is a prerequisite for most long-term involvement with YWAM including serving as staff and attending other YWAM schools. For many people, however, a DTS is their only involvement with YWAM. The lessons DTS graduates learn during their DTS are used throughout their lifetime. Some students capture a passion for the nations and serve as full-time overseas missionaries.
The DTS program includes three months of training at our base on Maui and three months of outreach to a foreign destination. The lecture portion of the DTS features a new speaker each week who shares on many topics including the Holy Spirit, world religions, evangelism and the Bible. Outreach is a chance for the students to practically apply and share what they have learned. The activities of the outreach phase vary depending on where the teams go. Students may participate in teaching English, performing outdoor evangelism, preaching, working with children, trekking to remote villages, training pastors and much more.
We run three of these schools a year in the Fall, Winter and Summer. We have an average of 25-30 students per school. Apply early because spots fill up quickly.
