They want us to share that belief. They use it to justify themselves, to keep us apart, to shape the world's political & economic systems, perpetuating war & poverty. Their power comes not so much from cabals as from incessant propaganda that we hardly notice, implicit in the background assumptions of tv & newspapers. ¶ But you & I have found a better light inside ourselves & our friends. It's in everyone, if we can just wake them; we're all one flesh & blood. Let's spread that vision, for until we do our other advances will be minor & temporary. "Shark finning" is when fishermen cut off the fins of the shark and throw the live animal back into the ocean in order to save space on the boat. The shark drowns or bleeds to death on the ocean floor. Shark fins can sell for over $300 per pound due to the demand for shark fin soup, an Asian "delicacy". Some species of shark populations have plumetted by up to 99% in the last 20 years and are in grave danger of becoming extinct, due mainly to the practice of finning. HERE ARE 6 THINGS YOU DO TO HELP STOP SHARK FINNING: 1. Don't eat shark fin soup! Don't eat in restaurants that serve it. 2. Support organisations that are fighting to save marine wildlife such as Sea Shepherd and Wild Aid. 3. Visit StopSharkFinning.net and take part in the campaigns. 4. Put my profile in your Top Friends! Or even better, create your own profile. 5. Buy a Stop Shark Finning T-shirt and help raise awareness (all profits go to Sea Shepherd). 6. Go shark diving! The more money that can made from seeing sharks in the wild, the more incentive there is for communities to conserve populations.
