I am a Minneapolis based guitarist, composer, and instructor. While I have performed in rock bands, folk bands, jam bands, bluegrass bands, funk bands, gospel bands, and R&B groups, my primary focus is jazz.
Currently, I am a proud member of the Atlantis Quartet, which performs adventurous, mostly original, modern jazz. Brandon Wozniak is on saxophone, Travis Schilling on bass, and Pete Hennig on drums. The quartet plays all over the twin cities, including the Dakota, Times, Clown Lounge, Nomad, 331 Club and more. We have released one album, which is available at www.atlantisquartet.com, cdbaby.com, and itunes.com.
I am also a member of the jazz organ trio CounterClockWise, with Tanner Taylor ..s and Jay Epstein on drums. We can be heard here and there, usually at the Dakota's Late Night Series.
On the funkier side of things is my group Vital Organ, with Jason Craft on the keys, Pete Hennig on drums, and Katie Gearty on vocals. We perform old school funk and soul grooves a la Stevie Wonder, Meters, MMW and such, and are at Jitters Martini Bar on the second Saturday of every month.
Beyond that, I lead a trio at the Riverview Wine Bar on Sundays, Rossi's on Mondays, and perform with the world jazz group Tico Tico on Tuesdays at Solera. I can also be heard as a sideman to jazz and pop singers like Katie Gearty, and soul singer John Starkey.
From 1997 to 2005, I was living in Carbondale, IL. While there, I played with many groups, most notably Broken Grass, which toured for a few years and put out three CDs. I did some touring and recording before that with jam band Madcap, and put out a live CD with jazz group Caravan. During my stay in C'Dale, I also managed to pick up a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern Illinois University.
In 2005, I moved to Minneapolis, MN, where I make a living teaching music and performing. For more about me, come out and give a listen. If you are interested in GUITAR LESSONS, I teach through the Matt's Pro Guitar on Snelling Ave in St. Paul and through Schmitt Music in Edina.
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!
I checked out some new pics of you with Tico Taco and one looked like you cut your hair, I almost shat myself. But alas, it is still there. Keep rocking and all that jazz.
Thanks for adding MN Atheists to your friend list.
I hope to get the MySpace site involved in our organization, and help other atheists/agnostics/humanists/freethinkers in Minnesota get to know each other!
I'm sorry that I did not get back to you about the recording. Big changes are going on in this life of mine. I will be applying this week to go to grad school in Mankato! Getting ready for that schooling means a big change in my plans for songs, so I will have to put a hold on the session that I wrote to you about. But one never knows what the future might bring!
Zacc! How are you? I thought of you yesterday and I thought you'd enjoy this recent update:
I've been job searching for the past three weeks and have been unsuccessful. So I decided to do it the old fashioned way and walk around the city with 30 resumes in hand. The result?
It was so good to hear you guys at the Loring! And I just might have to enlist your help with some recording that I will be doing here in the near future. I need to record some songs in Spanish for my students, and I will need a little musical backing!
