About me:
Well zacharys story begins with me finding out I was pregnant with twins, wow what a shock that was. My pregnanct was horrible from the very begining. I was very sick the whole pregnancy vomitting and dehydration. I was on weeks of home IV therapy and in the hospital 12 times for dehydration. With being sick through my entire pregnancy was a total bummer. It continued to get worse On April 4th I was in a car accident that turned our world upside down. My labor began 3 hours after my accident. I was put on medications to slow my contractions and to try to stop my contractions. I was put on complete bedrest in the hospital after 2 days or so in the hospital They sent me home on bedrest and on medications to continue to keep my contractions at bay. Bed rest was no fun expecially since I had a 3 year old at the time that required 100% of my attention, but we made due. My contractions continued and I made several trips back to labor and delivery, they would treat my symptoms and send me back home on meds and bed rest. FUN FUN! On april 18th I returned again to the hospital for my contractions yet this time they were more alarmed since there was a signifacant change in how much I had dialated. They started me on Magnesium Sulfate, which is HORRIBLE stuff, I recomend never going on that medicine it wasd no fun. They transferred me to a new hospital that had a better equiped NICU to deal with preemies. Again they stopped my labor for the moment and stabilized me for the moment. It was touch and go from then till April 27th when again I had dialated more then what they had liked . So I was sent for an emergency c-section and my babies came in to this world Layla came first weighing 2lbs 10 oz, Zachary weighed 2lbs 14 oz. Layla was my fighter and screamer. Zachary never cried and had to be intabated right away. Zachary's health was touch and go at all times. Layla once she got put on the c-pap and some caffine she stabilized. Zachary developed MRSA which is methacyllin resistant staff aurious when he was about 12 days old, My little man went down hill from there from pnemonia to a mass in his lung that began growing with every breath the vent fed him, this mass was stealing all the air that needed to go to other organs and was growing bigger every second. This mass grew so big it had pushed his heart to the right chest wall and his liver down to his groin area. This mass was slowly sufficating him with every breath that the vent fed him. On May 31st 2005, After the doctors told us there is nothing more they could do for zachary My husband and I had to make the worst decision any parents should ever have to make. We decided after some thought to take our precious baby off the ventalator and let him go home to god. Zachary lasted 11 minutes off the ventalator. He left behind his twin sister layla who is home now and doing great. He is missed every moment of everyday with every breath I take. Zacharys memory will live on through his sister Layla. Thank you for letting me share his story.
