Okay, well you might not be able to become a member of the band, but if you like the music, I would love your partnership in helping me get the word out. I am currently independent and have no distribution methods other than word of mouth and private bookstores (indi record stores, church bookstores, school bookstores, etc.). All profits will be thrown back into the general fund to create more of my own albums and to fund other independent artists' who might not otherwise have an opportunity to record their music. Zach Payne lives in the booming metroplex of Norman, Oklahoma USA along with his wife, Ang. He started playing the guitar when he was 14 and slowly picked up a few other instruments along the way. For the past 10 years, he has had the opportunity to work on many other musicians' projects, but it was finally time to release his own record, so the rest is history. The recent album, self-titled Zach Payne (very original), started at a lakehouse in June 2006 with a laptop computer and was finished in March 2007 at Blackwatch Studios in Norman, Oklahoma with many of hisdear friends helping along the way.
"Probably the best part of making music is creating in the context of community. I have an incredibly rooted group of friends (spiritual family as we call it) here in Norman, which makes it easily my favorite place to live...seriously, you can give me mountains or beaches or recreation and all of that is great, but bottom line... you can't beat honest friendship, people living missional and meaningful lives, people that will shoot straight with you and people who know the quirks and insecurities about you, people who are weak and know it, but choose to press on. I don't think without the input of my friends and colleagues and the continued encouragement of my peers that I would have put this album out, but I sure am glad I did. "
The songs were born out good times and bad times, deep convictions, failure and victory, incredible highs and deep lows, dashed hopes and hopes fulfilled, lost friendships, friendships gained, biblical truth that comforts me and often times haunts me, but most of all these songs were born out of relationship, conversation and interaction with Jesus.
