   About ZADAN
ZADAN (japanese): Allowing the mind to cut through the illusions of the world and see reality as it truly is.

"Our neo-cortex stores and correlates all sensory data in the forms of 'Invariant representations.' What we consider to be 'understanding' is when differing mental forms are realized to be the same. When all that we see, and feel and experience, is realized to be empty, meaningless and fleeting, is when the memories of the neo-cortex unify in understanding. To truly be awake is to see that void is the fabric of space-time.

Zadan is the music that experiencing that void inspires in me."

Hi Shaun,

So nice to hear news from you, thank you for your message. You've been around a lot, traveling from the US to Taiwan, Thailand and Laos. I've also hardly been online at all since about last Xmas. This is my first myspace check in months.
How are you doing in Laos? How is life there? Are you staying with friends or did you manage to find an apartment you could rent? I think you must be about to leave it now -- have a safe trip home!

After a few very dense months -- lots of work and the dumb house moving, which took me and my girlfriend forever bcs we're way too relaxed when dealing with boring stuff -- we finally managed to move into the new apartment. With the cats. Needless to say, they immediately figured out where all the fluffy and comfy spots in the house are and took complete possession of them.
Since we tried to do as much work ourselves, I had not time for music, which was quite hard to cope with.
I hope that after all that painting, floor laying, drilling, banging things here and there, putting furniture together, I'll soon be able to get back to my practice routine bcs I really miss it.
However, we're both happy with what we did and can live with the small "oops" we caused in the house (and concealed more or less effectively).

Wit the band, we recorded a short demo -- it's only 4 cover songs we want to use to promote ourselves locally and get gigs. Nothing big, just make music and have some fun. I'll load them onto my page soon.
Sitar is getting more and more difficult, and beautiful. I played a couple of gigs with bands as the kind of extra "ethnic" ingredient, but have recently been asked to join a group featuring an oud player and a bansuri player: now, this sounds pretty interesting :-)

I see you also put online your Shaun myspace page -- do you prefer to keep your Zadan project completely separated from your other music activities?

Well i am glad that you did get around to visiting my page, and time is not a problem for me right now Shaun.

The police currently have my PC (don't worry, i have not done a Gary Glitter or anything like that) and i have no idea when i will get it back, all my samples, software, songs.. basically everything connected to my project is on that computer so i have no clue when my page will be updated.

Till then my first demo (Salix Alba) is downloadable via mediafire, links to that are on my page.

Fustratingly though i can't hear your music right now, this old PC i have hooked onto the net is a temperamental old thing, i'll try again later. Cheers.

Jan 27 2008 11:13 PM

Hey Shaun,

Thank you so much for your message!
For how long have you been in the States now? Have you already planned when you're going back to Thailand?
Are you working on new music?

My daily life has pretty much sucked me in these last few weeks, a balanced mix of boring and exciting stuff, so I can't complain -- the exciting stuff made up for the boring part :-)

Next March I'm recording a short demo with my current band. Nothing astounding, but we hope this will help us get more gigs, which is fun.

A couple of people contacted me through MySpace to ask me to record sitar parts in their projects. It's still very much work in progress, but I hope to actually get a few tracks done -- fingers crossed!

When you get your stuff sorted out and get a bit more time to sit back, I'd love to hear more about you!

Take care,
Marco

Hey, sorry its taken me so long to get back to you.
I lost internet connection at my house so now I'm at the library.
Yeah, this country is pretty fucked off.
Especially if you live in Utah.
It's starting to drive me fucking nuts being here.
Even jail is starting to sound more appealing than having to deal with all the fuckers that live here.
But I don't know though, I've been in a pretty fucked off spot in my head the past couple of weeks.
I'll make it through though, I always do.

As far as jamming has gone lately.
We really haven't done anything since Thanksgiving.
I can't seem to get a hold of Shaun lately.
I haven't been able to get a hold of him since his other band played a show with MDC actually.
I think that was the beggining of last December.
So I don't know whats going on right now.
Hopefully I can get a hold of him soon.
We'll just have to see I guess.
Anyway, I'll talk to you later.
