Geir Zahl got two albums for christmas when he was 11. Knutsen & Ludvigsen´s "Juba Juba" (norwegian duo playing childrens music, great stuff!) and Bruce Springsteen`s "Born In The USA".
Around the age of 16 Geir Zahl started playing guitar in the basement with his childhood friend Janove Ottesen, fooling around writing weird songs and lyrics, having a laugh and no ambitions. Then songwriting increasingly became more serious, and later these two companions went on to form the highly successful oilbarrel banging gypsy-rock punk-adrenalin-infused act Kaizers Orchestra.
Five years and three albums into Kaizers Orchestras career, Zahl is ready to release his solo album "Nice For A Change". Different in many ways from the spastic eastern european expression of Kaizers, Zahl this time explores the great American style singer/songwriter genre, "americana", or whatever you want to call it, just "good songs" does it really.
Basiclaly that christmas in 1986 paved the way for the two headed dog, Kaizers and soloZahl, for Geir.
The album "Nice For A Change" was released in Norway february 19th. 2007, and is available on itunes stores almost all throughout Europe and the US. Stay posted for more information about shows and tour plans!

Kanskje du denne gangen vil prøve å leie et øvingslokale i et helprofft næringsbygg med Securitas, kameraovervåking, alarmer og kodelåser hele døgnet? Kanskje du denne gangen vil prøve å leie et øvingslokale som LÅTER fett, satt sammen av noen som KAN akustikk? Da er du heldig! Det er flere øvingslokaler, tre innspillingsstudioer (Caliban Studios, Parachute Studio og Cabin Recorders) i forskjellige etasjer, samt Prolyd og Dritfetegitarer rett borte i gangen. Load in/out er en drøm med bilkjøring inn i huset og helt frem til døra! Hvert rom blir på romslige 26 kvadrat, pluss et felles lagerrom. Perfekt for 2-3 kompisband pr lokale.
Prisen blir 7000,- i måneden pr rom. Kontrakter skrives NÅ, så her er det bare å henge i!
