| About ZAIRA |
Zaira’s earliest memories are of performing with a vision that goes beyond than just entertainment. “Since I was a child I imagined myself up on stage adding and continuing to the legendary music that was already out there”, she recalls. Now, a decade –and-a-half later, freshly transplanted to Los Angeles, Zaira is about to realize her dream. “Everything I’ve ever done” she says, “I’ve seen it to through to completion, and I knew as long as I had God in my life to motivate me I’d always keep going.” While Zaira may be completing one chapter in her artistic journey, the big story is really just beginning, prefaced by years of dedicated practice and deeply held ambitions.
In 2007, Zaira put the finishing touches on nine professional recordings for her own debut album, with producer Robb Vallier, (who is a two time Grammy Nominee, and who has worked with an "A" list of recording artists from all types of genres of music). "Robb is an amazingly talented producer/musician. I love that he gets my style, vibe and vision; and with this, he has been able to make my final products a hit. It has definitely been a blessing to have worked with him so far, and I do plan on keeping him around for the finishing of my debut album, as well as many more projects to come. In addition, Zaira is also working with rising star Automatic, who, following a double production deal with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ Perspective label, is now signed to Sony Music as a writer-producer. (Where he has worked with an “A” list of recording artists from all different genres of music.) "The album features multiple songs that reflect Zaira’s vocal prowess", Automatic says. “Zaira has the ability to bring many genres of music together to make one hybrid sound of music that is edgy and inspiring. Zaira is an artist who speaks to our generation. Her original approach to music will make her legendary.”
Raised but not born in Vancouver City, Zaira lived here for most of her life. Zaira’s father Arturo was a backup guitarist for many major acts, including Diana Ross and Santana- with whom he toured with-but it was her brother Josh who most heartily encouraged her growing talents as she studied dance and sang in choirs.
In addition to her drive to perform, Zaira is also truly passionate about writing. “When I was 14, I started writing songs and poetry. I’ve always considered myself a lyricist; but then 3 years ago when Christ came into my life, he truely brought out the writer that I needed to be. With that being said, my life now had meaning and now so did my music. I’m drawn to music with deep meaning- that changes one’s mentality, perception towards life or ourselves, or music that just tells a good story. Music shouldn’t just all be about great beats, but a combination with amazing lyrics that touches and heals the soul. Music that is uplifting and inspires us to move when God tells us to go, or just music that is fun to listen to, without hearing a bunch of non-sense in between. These are the songs that live forever. This is the first album where I’ve created the melodies as well as the lyrics. My creativity and inspiration has definitely grown within these past 3 years. I plan to bring something fresh and new to all ears.”
Currently Zaira is an Apprentice Recording Producer for Sony Records/Enrage Entertainment and the Front Man Singer/Rhythm Guitarist for SPIT THE DIFFERENCE, a Punk/Rock band. Currently in the studio finishing up the new album!! Keep checking in for new recordings and updates as the story continues!
