"I remember hearing Zann for the first time a couple of years ago when Ewan played me a CDr of their stuff, and being blown away by them live a few weeks later when they played Leeds with Iceburn. When they hit these shores this time around they played Leeds with their split 7" partners Funeral Diner, and they were anything if not better than before - intense metallic craziness. Anyways, picked up this 7" at that gig, and it's fuckin ace. Zann's stuff is spot-on - a claustrophobic wall of chaotic metal, and it has a really cool raw sound - if I close my eyes I can picture them bouncing around my living room, attacking the crowd with their guitars and plastic swords!" (reason to belive fanzine)
This is very heavy German chaotic emo. Like the missing link between Acrid and Neil Perry. Full-blown noise at times, but also some slow chunky buildups and more traditional emo breakdowns. The singer growls the whole way through but sometimes the band sneaks in some melodies behind him. I've only listened to this record a few times but already some of the riffs are really starting to stick out and get my head moving. Boy, this is really a lot angrier than I expected. I thought it was at the wrong speed for a second because it's so heavy, but it still holds together really well for music this intense. It's hard to miss this one since it comes in a huge pink static-free bag. The record itself is transparent red vinyl with hand-stamped labels. Looks like this is the first release for Crucificados and their web page lists a lot of interesting projects so I guess I've got another German label to start following. (comfortableniche)
Brutality German style. This is pretty cool, it would be a lot cooler with a good recording but for a demo its not bad. Lots of distortion and screaming. Reminds me of Acme with faster drumming. I´m going to be sure to keep my eyes open for future releases from this killing machine.

| About ZANN |
Zann formed in late 1999 as a four piece. After some shows John joined on second guitar. Since then there were no line-up changes. Over the years we're lucky enough to play lots of shows, doing some tours in Europe, some in the U.S. and some in Japan, put out some records on vinyl, which have been re-released on CD by GeekScene and PerKoro records. Our full-length came out on Vendetta Records in summer of 2006. The spilt-12" with Burial Year (R.I.P.) just came out. There will be also a four-way-split-12" with Perth Express, Ghostlimb and Trainwreck later this year. Another tour DVD is coming up too, but not sure when we'll get this one done. There are tour as well as recording plans for next year which will be revealed as soon as they're confirmed. We will keep you posted.
I think we are a way too slow in writing new songs - but being on the road and playing live is the thing that matters most to us in the end. We love to be in the van and see new cities and new people - even if this sounds way too cliche .. but we all mostly hate it to be at home!!! So thanx so much to all the people that came on the road with us, booked a show or a tour and shared everything with us. THANX SO MUCH to TAKARU, BLAME GAME, FUNERAL DINER, BIRUSHANAH, BURIAL YEAR, GRAF ORLOCK which showed us a new continents and gave us the chance to play outside of Europe ... we never thought this kinda stuff would ever happen!!! Also THANX SO MUCH to ICEBURN, THE MIHALY SYNDROME, MALYSZ, ANGER IS BEAUTIFUL, GREG MACPHERSON and BATTLE ROYAL who all joined the road on different routes throughout the old world!!!
Feel free to contact us about shows, tours, lyrics, releases and whatnot through this MySpace or directly under ZannMe(at)web.de
We hope to see you on the road somewhere...
There is a new - well from the beginning of the year I think - interview online which we did with the "Shoot me again" webzine from Belgium. It's available in English and French. Go here if you like to know more:
