About me:
Every 15 Seconds a person dies from a water related disease. One in every six people on the planet lives without regular access to safe drinking water. Over one third of the world’s population lacks access to proper sanitation. For children under age five, water-related diseases are the leading cause of death. These infections kill over 2 million people every year. Most of them are children living in developing countries. Safe water and proper sanitation can prevent most of these deaths.
zao is a humanitarian organization working to transform communities by providing safe drinking water, hygiene education and hope for people in developing nations. We do this by digging wells, developing springs, conducting hygiene training, teaching on solar technology and planting churches. We are currently working in Kenya, Tanzania, and Burkina Faso. Our progress to date is 33 springs, 19 wells, and 1 catchment tank. Each water source provides water to approximately 750 people daily. With our 53 water sources we are providing clean water for 39,750 people every day.
