One of Britain’s most talented best-kept secrets, Zara McFarlane has not gone totally unnoticed over the years. Her outstanding voice has been used for feature spots, duets and session work by artists, bands and musical directors alike. Now this amazing voice is here to be enjoyed by all at some of the best jazz venues in London.
Always immersed in writing and teaching projects as well as performing live with various bands across the country, Zara has an intriguing concoction of original material- influenced heavily by the traditions of jazz- as well as a mixture of jazz standards infused with her sophisticated style.
Despite her multifaceted talents, showcased in her numerous works encompassing all genres of music; as a lead vocalist, backing vocalist, session performer and guest featured artist, Zara has an affinity to the art of jazz.
Inspired by the sounds of jazz from a young age, Zara attended the Brit School of Performing Arts followed by the London College of Music and went on to became a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Her colossal talent - based on a wonderfully unique tone accompanied by her sensual vocal command and her ability to improvise fluently and gracefully (not to mention her swing!) - is matched by a sassy demeanor that radiates through every tune she embarks upon.
