| About Zauberflote |
|
Zauberflote is a flute ensemble made up of select high school flutists from the Des Moines Metro area. The group was founded in 2004 by director/flutist Anne Stein, Des Moines Symphony Academy faculty flutist. The purpose of this project is to give flutists an opportunity to explore flute ensemble repertoire from many genres - including baroque, classical, impressionism, modern, ragtime, jazz and blues styles. The members of this group also serve as core members of seasonal flute choirs directed by Anne Stein. Zauberflote performs regularly in the Des Moines area in private and public performances. Performance venues include: The Des Moines Art Center, Science Center of Iowa, Terrace Hill, Salisbury House, Festival of Trees, Downtown Farmer's Market, The Embassy Club, The Rollins Mansion, Des Moines Golf and Country Club, and Prairie Meadows. Zauberflote has also been part of many Symphony Academy Concerts at the Temple of the Arts and various Academy fundraisers around Des Moines.
