YankeeSouth is all about sobriety, both Pete (Mary Sue) and I (Jerry) are Recovering alkies and addicts and we Love being in recovery from our past demons! I am an eastcoast guy (Ma.) with 20 years of sobriety and Pete is from Pa. and she has 24 years of sobriety. We moved to Bristol Va. six years ago hence the name "Yankeesouth" was born. Bristol VA/Tenn is the "Birth place of Country Music". Being surrounded by so many great pickers here in Bristol I decided to turn the poems from my book The Merry Go Round of Misery-Last Call, into music. Each song on our CD- World of Addiction tells a story. The positive side of being in recovery and finding a rewarding freedom from alcohol and drug abuse, and the negitive side, the loss of moral values, destruction and death from addiction and denial. I do not claim to be a great singer, and never will be, but music is a powerful tool and a great way to get the sober message out. So here is Yankkesouth the home of Sober Rock n’ Roll with a little country, blues, and Gospel mixed in. All Pete and I want to do on this site is express the freedom we’ve found living the sober life. We don’t preach the word of sobriety to anyone, but we will help any addict out there who needs help. We will never bash any recovery program, it’s just not our style, we are just 12 steppers who enjoy life again. So enjoy the site, give the music a listen and if you like it, buy it. Also on our web page www.yankeesouth.com Pete has some great recovery jewlery for all you recovering women so check it out! Please rememember, "A smile wears much better than a frown" Jerry & Pete!!!!!!!!

When I spoke to eight hundred students in a state university, I was informed that Jesus Christ should not be mentioned in the school. The same afternoon I was invited to talk to about eight hundred men in the state penitentiary, and the warden asked me to tell them about Jesus Christ. Go figure. Enjoy your week.
