About The Alphabet Set

Set up in the late Spring of 2002 as a platform for a group of bedroom producer friends to play live, we are a electronic-oriented collective consisting of over 20 people who have been throwing parties, releasing music and generally promoting Irish electronic music for the last 5 years.

A cross section of some of the acts involved are T-Woc, Thalamus, Sarsparilla, Bluefood, 2-Bit, Solen, Lakker, Ebauche, LPX, Herv, Super Extra Bonus Party plus many more who have been guests at our events throughout the years including DJ/rupture, Digital Mystiks, Dj C, Maga Bo, Random Number, Soundmurderer, Hrvatski, Biosphere, Frog Pocket, Printed Circuit, Kid 606, Multiplex, Elemental, Boxcutter, Filaria, to name but a few.

The Alphabet Set also curate a stage at the Mantua Festival, a 3 day independent music and arts festival in Co. Roscommon.

At only 18 years of age he has already amassed a respectable catalogue, with releases on labels such as Hidden Shoal, Sounds Asleep and now Acroplane. You can also expect a more beat driven 2nd release on Acroplane fairly soon, but for now we think that this little ambient workout works as a nice precursor to it. my pilot	Jun 3 2008 7:53 PM Hi there Alphabet Set Well in an idle moment I decided to record a cover of Aerosmith’s classic power ballad ‘What It Takes’ (from their 1989 album Pump, also featuring such immortal cuts as ‘Young Lust’ and ‘Love In An Elevator’). This isn’t some kind of knowing, ironic cover like when a band does a Britney Spears song or something – I genuinely love the song (well, I used to anyway), although I have attempted to divest it of some of its undeniable cheesiness. Mind you there’s only so much you can do with lines like “Your love made me a prisoner, yes my heart’s been doin’ time”… This will probably be up on the myspace page for only a short time as, technically speaking, we don’t have Aerosmith’s actual permission to use it. I’m also told this type of thing runs contrary to some kind of arcane myspace regulation…? They have been mainstays on the Irish electronic music scene since their inception in 2003. Described in the Journal of Music in Ireland as "one of the best electronic acts in Ireland", their output has ranged from electro-acoustic soundscape pieces to mashed-up death-metal-sampling breakcore: a diversity reflected in their releases to date on labels such as Risc Records, Go Away Recordings, The Alphabet Set, and most recently Lazybird, with their debut longplayer, 'Ruido'. Although he is French, Germany has definitely had an influence on his sound, Sven Vath and Carsten Jancker especially...errrrrr, well they would maybe have had some if he had continued to listen to Hardfloor while smoking and drinking... In truth, Wahn prefers the Funkstorung way with Thomas Häßler's dexterity. And beer too OK. His first release on Acroplane, 'Alt.Binaries', is a 7 track EP featuring 3 tracks taken from his 1st LP 'Str.ct.r.s' (Nov 2007) plus 4 unreleased ones. acroplane recordings - sitezen ep online	Apr 16 2008 10:04 AM ACP019: Lastrapink - luminescence ep Lastrapink grew up in Venezuela, and from an early age was into playing instruments and studying harmony with his music teacher Emilio Mendoza. He was impressed by the acid underground music that was brought to Venezuela from London so he decided to travel to the UK to learn English and to perform his own music in various UK parties and clubs. Soon after he made the jump to Berlin to work with people such as Phlex, Vertical 67 and the Hasenland krew, and to play alongside such luminaries as Plaid, Jega and Modeselektor at RockPaperScissor parties. Since then he has also been playing gigs under the name 'Andromede' with his partner Q Squared, playing at parties in the UK and Berlin. He is currently taking his acid sound to his home land of Venezuela by running his own events. The luminescence EP is a selection of tunes made in the Uk and South America; a unique combination of European acid and South American electro vibes.
