Another Tragedy - The Beauty of Suffering (Reviews)
www.ytsejam.com review: The heaviness is the ‘Beauty’ of it all
‘Technical, aggressive, melodic, punchy, and melodic...The album could be seen as provoking a new sense of hard rock in the world of music…How to put some balls back into the world of rock music’.
City Beat review:
AT's debut album is a marvel of Metal power and attitude, while exhibiting the subtlety and elegance of the best Prog Rock. Any band can overwhelm the listener with sheer volume, but it takes a much more balanced approach to reach an audience both viscerally and intellectually. Another Tragedy accomplishes this feat with astonishing ease on pummeling tracks like "Broken" and "Ten," while exploring a more introspective and contemplative perspective on "The Healing" and "In Too Deep," all songs that were fueled by emotional upheaval early in the band's history, including a couple of divorces. Myriad influences go into each member's experience (Tool, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Kings X), but it all comes out as Another Tragedy. By Brian Palmer

Rock Midgets review:
‘This is an ambitious and stylish, multi-textured and multi-faceted album…Around a heavy rock heartbeat there are snarling riff attacks…Huge arena-bound choruses…Guitars spit and slide and scream with equal flair…If your faith in rock and metal has been shaken recently, this is truly more than enough to reconfirm it…This is too good to ignore’.4/5 Simon T Diplock

Cincinnati Post review:
‘One of the finest hard rock releases in these parts in memory…A band that has its own sound…Angsty and interesting, almost concept album’. By Rick Bird
Classic Rock review:
If your taste in progressive rock leans toward the Tool/A Perfect Circle/Mars Volta side of things, then this new Cincinnati quartet could be just the band for you. The Healing lulls you into a false sense of security with its low-key beginning, before it morphs into an expansive, atmospheric song complete with an extended instrumental break. Fans of latter-day Marillion will find much to enjoy here.

Kerrang Review: KKK
For Fans of Hundred Reasons, A Perfect Circle:
There are foundations rooted in Deftones and Tool...Rancid melodies start to bite down with the insistence of a corrosive skin disease. 'Nowhere Anthem' is their signature, but the more emotive 'The Cold Space' also cuts a fair dash.

ANOTHER TRAGEDY The Beauty Of Suffering Zebra 3 Records (2007)
Debut album from this Ohia 4 piece, which kicks off in alternative style with a nod at progressive metal. Influences include Tool and RATM, which show, and there’s touches of Sabbath too. Chunky riffs and off the wall rhythms with a dark edge.
'The Cold Space' opens with a guitar sound you’d expect on Iron Maiden’s new album before the alternative sound follows.
There’s quieter moments too, but all pretty much in your face.
Think Incubus and The Mars Volta, you get the idea. ***

Sometimes a band arrives with such furious intent that they’re just impossible to ignore. Kingskin are one of those bands. Playing the game by their own rules, their sound is honed in on classic rock, grunge and the alternative sounds of the early 90’s. Like Nirvana might have sounded if Kurt had listened to more Led Zep and less Frank Black, the overriding feeling is that of a band driven by total faith in their music and a need to get away from the world of dead-end 9 to 5’s.
Two years have passed since the band won Kerrang!’s Best Unsigned Band Competition, in a reader’s poll, and now they are releasing their long awaited debut album, Rhyme For Smalltime. Opening track Bottom Dollar immediately explodes into a flurry of guitars, squealing solos and whisky-soaked vocals. The anthemic Nothing Left To Burn is followed by a masterclass in bass heavy grunge-punk in the shape of In The Way. As an album the pace is unrelenting, held together by a fine rhythm section that keeps the band’s style of flitting between the riff-centric, bass heavy stomps to driving melodic rock choruses all in check.
The record was mixed by George Shilling (Bullet For My Valentine) and mastered by Tim Turan (Marilyn Manson, Napalm Death, The Ramones and Jimmy Eat World). As their debut album proper it follows 2007’s ‘Humpin’ Mojo EP’ and precedes a much anticipated Steve Albini produced record due to surface in 2009.

Another Tragedy release their debut album, “The Beauty of Suffering”, through Zebra 3 Records.
The four piece progressive heavy rock act hail from Greater Cincinnati, Ohio. The bands sound is fuelled with the rawness and brutality that made bands such as Black Sabbath and Rage against the Machine so compelling. The band is made up of Johnathan Chapman (Vocals), Lee Dixon (Guitar- vocals), Matt Menard (Bass) and Caleb Campbell (Drums).
Another Tragedy perfectly blend syncopated rhythms, driving bass and slab heavy guitars with the thought provoking and radio friendly vocals of Chapman. The band draws on influences such as Led Zeppelin and Tool for their brutal but beautifully melodic songs. “Broken”, “Nowhere Anthem” and “Nothing Left” provide the album with enough aggression to allow for the more emotional heartfelt songs such as “The Healing” and “Headcase” to create the perfectly balanced album.
“The Beauty of Suffering” executes well crafted heavy-progressive rock songs with enough soul to convince you that Another Tragedy drink from the same well of invention of bands such as Incubus, A Perfect Circle and The Mars Volta.
