Cricket and Football when in England, and surfing when I am not!!! >
:----- Boats: Love 'em. NOT cold wet sailing yachts, but big hefty trawler yachts are a passion. The Capehorn Yacht inc web site is a place of worship for me: ---- I have a great fascination for the life and works of Paul Bowles (Sheltering Sky, Up Above The World, Let It Come Down, The Spiders House - NO, that is not me with him in the photo!!) and also the writers of the 'Beat' Generation, particularly William Burroughs. I am a fan too of Herman Hesse - call me Goldmund, not Narziss - and attempting to become a Ludi Magister of the modern 'Glass Bead Game' - the INTERNET, chat rooms, chat language, codes, purposes, smilie culture, shorthand, text speak et al. However, I am the epitomy of a Modern day Moron, adrift in a jargonistic world, and it amuses me greatly the more I get it wrong. Time will tell if those whose walls I break through are equally as amused.
Music
I love music, almost any music. 60's pop as much as sixties rock; classical, country, jazz, blues or swing. Punk was a big fave and I quite like the nu-metal that I hear on my surf videos. My ears are open for business at all times.
Currently being thrashed to death through my ear phones are Chemical Bros, FatBoySlim, Steve Reich, Massive Attack, DR Dre and several thousands miles of my first true love, Leonard Cohen. Also if any of you play acoustic guitar and don't already know, the name you need on your next visit to the record store is NICK DRAKE. Pink Moon or Five Leaves Left will do for a starter.
Movies
I love good hollywood. Welles, Kubrick, Scorsese and Tarantino are some great directors.
Dr Strangelove, Citizen kane, Mean Streets, Pulp Fiction, Lone Star, are some great movies. L:!)
Take This You Pinko Ruski Fuckers.......
Television
I have one. It plays Football (soccer), the news and the occasional documentary. Otherwise it tends to mind it's own business, while I get on with living a life here in Disco-Land!
Books
I have a library, most of which has been downloaded into Zed space, informing me and amusing me equally. I refer you to my interests above to note those which nag at me the most. %:o)
Heroes
The Stranglers used to be!! Abraham, Moses, Socrates, Herod, Alexander, Hannibal, Sparticus, Augustus, Spinoza, Gallileo, Freud, Paul Bowles, Churchil, Alfred Chester, Augustus Owlsey Stanley the 3rd, Hendrix; to name but a few and to give you the general flavour.
About me: ******************************
I'm Zed! A sephardic Jew all the way back to the 9th century Caliphate of Baghdad so the ancestors say, but British now through many generations. Born in London, raised in Fiji, polished in New Zealand and Australia and enlightened here on poverty rock amongst the great unwashed of England. 48 years of synthesised groovyness come home to roost in the land of the one true bard.
Through Stein and the lost generation to Paul Bowles the conduit to the Beat with his desert dry entre to the psychological madness, mayhem and murder that was once so hip to the habituees of 42nd street coffee bars all "Hunckey'd" down over Rimbaud and Celine, I am a believer in the efficacy of the pen, the joy of new worlds discovered and the true pain of existence. Eyes open I see in detail a world in which many blink and miss the main event, may the Devil confuse their guide dogs! I AM the main event, the Naked Lunch has always been MY favourite menu.
I haven't written for lucre nor kidded myself that I can. I have projects, work in progress, but no conviction that what I conceal about my mind is of interest to the commercial aspects of such an enterprise. But I do dream! Don't we all feel the need to make a mark on our generation, a mark of our own, and conquer time through the immortality of our ideas or notoriety?
Well here we all are sitting in a rainbow, and at that rainbow's end is the pot of gold. What does that mean to you? Riches, Recognition, Career, G-d? If so you are in the wrong place. This is a chat up forum in disguise - Disco-Land - but I don't care, I am well blogged and living it large!
"Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life."
- Jack Kerouac
Who I'd like to meet:
Physically?? Myself coming around a corner, the ultimate Naked Lunch. Other than that no-one in particular but I am always willing to listen to a good case for doing so!
Here in Cyber-space though, anyone and everyone, why not? I listen to anyone that has something to say and I will always have an answer that may or may not amuse, confuse or beguile. LET IT COME DOWN!!
Mark Buck will be headlining at the Pigalle Club, Piccadilly, London on the 17th of April. Once again he will be joined by top notch drummer Justin Hildreth and bass supremo Derrick McIntyre. £8 on guest list
Our Record Label is about to forgo business, and is trying to get rid of its stock before it does, so both our albums are now just £0.01 +postage, basically free from http://d67.bigcartel.com
