About me:
I am a filmmaker on the borders of academia and the world around. I use the camera to ask questions and poke at reality. Above are clips taken from my latest film Mirror Mirror (58min) about London's queer Club Wotever. The film and the club began at the same time. The film is now finished but Wotever continues to grow and expand, finding and creating more and more venues. Ingo is the club's promoter. Performers Josephine, Lazlo, Maria and Jacq were there from the beginning entertaining the crowds. Josephine, trans-dancer and academic of incredible depth and perception; Lazlo, transman extraordinaire with burlesque desires; Maria Mojo, aka Dyke Marilyn, queer femme, comedienne, and singer with an incredible cleavage; and last but not least Jacq, AKA drag king Trevor 4 Ever, Australia's favourite perve. Jacq plucks up the courage to take Trevor 4 Ever to London's infamous Speaker's Corner, where he speaks on Love to an amused, confused and at times outraged public; Lazlo and visiting drag king star Ken Las Vegas perform hot gay male one-on-one action; and Dyke Marilyn tells all under a film studio spot light. The film balances performance and reflection, shifting from living rooms, to stages, and out into the open streets. I'm not safe from the camera's gaze either. Throughout I'm challenged on my own desires and reasons. In the film I consciously avoid typical gender trope questions, so you may not get all the answers you're looking for, if you're lucky, you may get a glimpse of a utopia where genders and sexualities exist purely for pleasure.
