Zena was born Florence Hariette Zena Dones on February 4th, 1887 in London.
Zena and her younger sister Phyllis first used the stage name 'Dare' in "Babes In The Wood" in 1899 at the Coronet Theatre. Phyllis playing the girl babe, Zena as understudy to the boy babe.
Zena Dare created the lead role in a musical comedy titled "Catch of the Season" on September 5, 1904 at the Vaudeville Theatre in London. She had several minor success roles before marriage to the Hon. Maurice Brett in January, 1911.
She played Peter Pan in the first provincial production of the play that opened at the Prince's Theatre, in Manchester, on 24 December 1906.
Zena made her final stage appearance at Drury Lane's Theatre Royal playing the part of 'Mrs Higgins', Rex Harrison's mother in "My Fair Lady". It opened in April of 1958 and ran for five and a half years.
Zena left this life on March 11, 1975, in London, England.
