Hi, my name is Zena Kitt. Thanks for finding me here... I'm a singer, songwriter and I love strumming guitars, keys and anything that plays notes or chords. I've been told you should always let the music do the talking. But I've also been told people might want to know a bit about me, so here goes..... When you meet somebody new, they often want to know how and when you sit down and write a song. This is the easy bit, as most singers love talking about their music... One day it might be jamming with a friend, walking around some old London gasworks, lying on the floor under a cloud of smoke at 3am listening to a riff I've hummed into my iPhone that day while I was waiting for the bus towards the Saatchi Gallery to look at speakers stacked to the ceiling, or in front of an incongruous 50" TV in the studio, starring at Bill Bailey's silent head standing three feet high. I've tried them all... I've always surrounded myself with musicians, gigs, pubs, clubs... anything and everything to do with music. My walls are covered with records, the stairs are stacked with instruments, my hallway looks like Music & Video Exchange, you can't see my bedroom floor for clothes because all the hidden spaces are filled with vinyl and obscure keyboards, and I drive my friends and my band crazy with constant music channels on TV and Spotify on the stereo... at the same time. People think I'm a bit nuts... When I'm not playing live, writing, recording or listening to music, I'm usually partying, dancing, cooking, watching funny stuff, reading, eating, sleeping or chatting. Or any combination of those really..... I've done some interesting jobs, met some crazy people, met some influential people, been to some weird places, and though I was born in Camden and went to a convent school, my parents are Middle Eastern, so it's no surprise to hear loads of different influences in the music I like and make, and the people I work with (artists always say that, I know, but if you tried to take two steps in my flat without kicking a CD or a bit of vinyl, you'd know there's just too many for them not to be varied)... If I had to name-check a few influences they might be Kate Bush, Eurythmics, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Carole King ..... And, of course, the glorious Freddie Mercury... But it constantly changes. Friends play me new stuff or remind me about stuff I'd forgotten about. Or I'll trip over something I bought when I was 9. Or I might hear something on one of those music channels... And that's it really. If you'd like to know more about what I'm up to it would be great to hear from you. Just leave me your details and I can keep you up to date with gigs, gossip and maybe the occasional track or acoustic performance download... ..xx .. .... ..send me a message to be added to the mailing list or email me at zena00@gmail.com.. ..xxxx.. .... I'm a singer, songwriter and I love strumming guitars, keys and anything that plays notes or chords. I've been told you should always let the music do the talking. But I've also been told people might want to know a bit about me, so here goes...

When you meet somebody new, they often want to know how and when you sit down and write a song. This is the easy bit, as most singers love talking about their music.

One day it might be jamming with a friend, walking around some old London gasworks, lying on the floor under a cloud of smoke at 3am listening to a riff I've hummed into my iPhone that day while I was waiting for the bus towards the Saatchi Gallery to look at speakers stacked to the ceiling, or in front of an incongruous 50” TV in the studio, starring at Bill Bailey's silent head standing three feet high. If I had to name-check a few influences they might be Kate Bush, Eurythmics, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Marc Bolan ..... And, of course, my idol, Freddie Mercury.

But it constantly changes. Friends play me new stuff or remind me about stuff I'd forgotten about. Or I'll trip over something I bought when I was 9. Or I might hear something on one of those music channels.

And that's it really. If you'd like to know more about what I'm up to it would be great to hear from you. Just leave me your details and I can keep you up to date with gigs, gossip and maybe the occasional track or acoustic performance download.
