"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
We're outta here in ten days. Still not sure what we'll be doing - but I'm not too concerned. Plenty of time to work on fiddling so I'll be a happy man no matter what. I'll be in touch.
Jackass. But seriously, I'm glad that you had a good time!!! I really wish I could have been there too, but I'm taking a ton of time off to go to SDW and Hiawatha, AND MBOTMA! You gotta pick and choose ya know? And anyway, I bet there'll be enough jamming and amazing concerts with Mike Seeger and Dirk Powell and Sammy and Caleb, among others... not to, ya know, rub it in or anything.
Agreed. It was a ton of fun though. I hope I didn't make too much of a fool out of myself, but on second thought, I really don't care! We should hang before I go back to MN in May.
Indeed! I just got mine last night...frickin amazing. Thing is a damn work of art and sounds righteous. I almost called in sick to work. Here are some more pics: http://www.banjohangout.org/myhangout/photos.asp?id=17017&albumid=1212
I haven't been able to in the past week because I've been moving in like crazy! I've actually been pretty good lately, the sick cleared up on Tuesday, so it's been ok.
