Zen Daddy is a blues rock band that was formed in the winter of 2006 when guitar veterans and cousins, Tom “Skeeter” Donovan and Johnny Vaughan, got together to jam with other local musicians in an effort to just have fun and fight off cabin fever. The two Virginia natives had been absent from the music scene for a few years after playing regularly in different bands for most their lives. They had even crossed paths playing at some of the same shows.
Soon , drummer Mike Galvez, and bass player Josh Mauldin joined up. Mike, a Texas native had been playing professionally throughout the midwest since his teens, and Josh, an Alabama native ,who had been playing in a lot of jazz, blues and jam bands. Vocalist and harp player Waverly Milor is originally from the Washington, DC area, having moved to the Shenandoah Valley in December 2007. He brings 20 plus years experience as front man and vocalist and adds another instrument, harmonica, to Zen Daddy's arsenal.
To round off the group, sound engineer and Virginia native Steve Boggs joined the group with twenty years of experience running sound and lights for many local and regional acts.
The group has been working on blues standards, classic and new rock covers and continue to expand their set lists. ( see their song list )
Zen Daddy is available for clubs. Festivals and private parties. Go to www.zendaddyband.com to contact us or to get on our mailing list for upcoming gigs and band news.
