From the deep scrub of Bulwai Country in Kuranda, Far North Queensland, emerges the new future of Australian roots and Indigenous music – Zennith.
Over the past year Zennith has built up hyped local, national and international support thanks to their high-energy rocking reggae rhythms and rhymes which fuse hip hop and traditional music.
What’s interesting about Zennith is the diverse range of ages in the band, and experience. Made up of the Brim family, dad Willie and sons Astro and Aden, it also features close friends of the band, Isaac and Lindsay resulting in a collaborative effort that not only has extreme musical chemistry, but also a cross-section of generations and a similar vision.
They set tongues wagging and wheels in motion for a huge 2009 following their acclaimed performance at the 2008 inaugural Australasian World Music Expo in Melbourne. The band has since been overwhelmed by invitations to perform around the world, from New Zealand to the USA and Europe.
Zennith are passionate about their cultural heritage, and sharing that heritage to the greater public. It is this passion that is aptly demonstrated in their music, lyrics and performances. They take great pride in performing music in culturally diverse locations. The way Zennith slot in to communities is icebreaking, and this ultimately opens doors for more indigenous bands to come on through.
If the bands live performance is anything to go by, 2010 is going to be their year. They already made a massive musical impact locally and overseas in 2009 with a tour to Vanuatu, an acclaimed performance at the QSong Awards, and two Deadly Award nominations.
Zennith’s EP ‘I Like It’ is full of uplifting and positive messages. Celebrating the release of their debut single and film clip ‘Simplified’ the prelude off their debut album supported by Arts Qld set for release mid-year, Zennith will be taking their message of understanding, empathy, culture and reconciliation to the world.
It’s looking like 2010 is the year the Zennith Boyz will explode, taking them to the heights of success. Keep an eye out for their national tour dates and catch them before the rest of the world does. This is 2000 and ZEN!
Zvonko Jovicic Stage Manager Lyrebird Stage Peats Ridge Festival 2009 described Zennith’s performance as
“This band blew me away with their dynamic approach, well crafted set, and their never dull for a moment repertoire. This band of brothers not only brings with it a passionate love for music but also a very tight musicianship, which pours onto the stage with ease and humility. This is a band that really has what it takes to bring it home to the finish leading a well crafted charge from their opening and familiar reggae styles all the way through to their explosive finale, a number that made me believe in rock 'n roll again!”

out All Underground Sound. A collaborative project between
Kryptamistik & The Lowdown. We've just thrown up a couple of
tracks off our upcoming 14 song album for you to scope out on our
facebook page. The first single is called Flip The Situation, a
reggae fused track featuring verses from Lotek, Skinz Markus and
Cook. The other track we've thrown up is called Facepaint which is a
song about people hogging the mic/rushing the stage/acting the fool
during other people's sets. The track features verses from Lizard,
Skinz Markus and Cook (who also produced the track) and cuts by New
Year's Steve. Let us know what ya think
I lived in Kuranda for a while as a small youth, before moving to Mareeba. I remember drinking grapefruit juice at the market and getting chased by cassowaries at the back of the house. I hope i can visit there again soon... Greetings to everyone there, hail up the community, I've heard your music on local radio and seen some clips on youtube. It's good to hear some positive messages in this time coming from the Roots. Thanks for the add. Rastafari Bless
To all of our friends on Facebook we
