It's past time to update this thing, I haven't been vegetarian in more than 8 months, and the war criminal Bush is out of office. Why haven't he and Cheney been arrested? ...War crimes, crimes against humanity, treason, but I guess they didn't have extramarital oral sex with anyone... so they will not be brought to justice. Anyway, about me... let's see. I like to travel, especially by train. But I love road trips, too. I'm a labor and peace activist, a liberal and a progressive, child advocate and an environmentalist. If there is one thing that defines who I am, it is that I come from a working-class union family. If there is one thing I know for sure, it is that unions are the heart and soul of this country, and essential to preserving the idea of the American Dream. Right now I am more concerned about the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, intact, than anything else. It's our shot at finally reforming the weak labor laws of the past 65 years, and restoring the middle class in this country. The working people of this country produce the wealth, without them there would be none. No working person should be forced to live in poverty. Every working person deserves to be able to provide a decent quality of life for his or her family, and should be able to freely form a union if he or she so wishes, without harrassment and fear of being fired. Also, the war in Iraq was unjust, illegal, and completely about oil. Iraq's oil is not ours, we should stop trying to control it. We should not leave 17 bases and 50,000 troops there. We need to develope more renewable energy here at home and decrease our dependence on foreign oil. We need clean energy, specifically solar and wind power. Don't believe the "clean coal" lie, there is no such thing as clean coal. Nuclear power is catastophic... it puzzles me that anyone would even casually consider it, yet here in OK we must fight to keep them from building more nuke plants... *sigh* I guess I am a pretty dark person and I tend to make it difficult for anyone to get to know me very well. Too often I prefer my own company, but I'm trying to be more comfortable around other people. I am married to the best friend I have ever had, and the best person I have ever known. He is the most brilliant person I've ever known, and has already forgotten more than I'll ever know, and I'm no dummy!
