I mean really is it? A couple of years ago, MySpace use to be where it’s at. Folks were conversing with each other, like really conversing. They were connecting with each other. MySpace use to be a place where like minded individuals could communicate and share interests. Man! I use to be put up on sooooo many indie bands through this site.
Nowadays, it seems as though most people are here solely to stunt and promote. Not that there is anything wrong with promoting. Hell, I always plug my going-ons on MySpace… Like my video blog --YouTube.com/ChasityChaos (shameless self-promotion). This is a great venue to make people aware of happenings, but what happened to the real connections? What happened to the dialog? What happened to the silliness? I miss it!
These days, I spend more time on FaceBook (FaceBook.com/ChasityChaos). So much time, that I have actually been contemplating the necessity of my MySpace page… So I am writing this message to ask all of the MySpacers of the world… Should I give up on MySpace, delete my page and turn to another social site for nourishment, or do you feel in your heart of hearts that there is a possibility of MySpace being resurrected?
"Recently, Shepard Fairey and I threw some fundraisers for the Obama campaign. We called them “The Party for Change”. (If you don't know who Shepard is—among many other things—he is the one responsible for the image on the right).
I've been wanting to put the mix I've been doing at these shows online, in hopes of spreading the word to people who need to hear it most. So, here it is: (zipped vbr mp3 / 84.7 MB) Download Download (Radio Edit)
I encourage you to download it and pass it along to anyone you think should hear it. Feel free to burn copies, share it with friends, family, co-workers, strangers, and especially anyone you know is on the fence about this election. I'm also putting out a radio friendly version, in case anyone wants to broadcast it.
Please share the message. Educate those who may not know what is really going on. There is still time.
If you, or anyone you know, isn't registered to vote, I encourage you to make it a priority and fix that before it's too late. This election is WAY too important for anyone to not get involved. If you need more information on how and where to register, vote, or participate, please check the links below.
I honestly feel if we make our voices heard, this time WILL be different.
Peace Jeff! We're DOIN' IT IN THE PARK one last time for 2008 & we hope you can make it! Fabel & Christie

Counter/Culture – The Disappearing Face of Brooklyn’s Storefronts
Curators and photographers: James and Karla Murray
OPENING RECEPTION: Wednesday September 10th 5:30 to 7:30 PM
Brooklyn’s neighborhood storefronts have the city’s history etched in their facades. Each store is as unique as the customers they serve and are run by owners who share a commitment to provide a special service. Many shops are lifelines for their communities, vital to the residents who depend on them for a multitude of needs. Yet such shops are disappearing on a daily basis as their neighborhoods rapidly change. Photographer-curators James and Karla Murray have scoured Brooklyn to observe “mom and pop” businesses from humble neighborhood stores tucked away on narrow side streets to well-known institutions on historic avenues. Through panoramic photographs, portraits of individual storefronts, and illuminating interviews with shop owners, this exhibition reveals how neighborhood stores help set the pulse, life, and texture of their communities. Exhibit dates: Sept. 10 – Dec. 28, 2008
